  • I don't want to make this too much of a negative thread considering we just picked up a big win.

TC's hand injury may have something to do with it. That makes sense. That even makes more of a reason for him not to be throwing stuff up outside of 10 feet if it has no chance of going in. I'm sure we can find stats on TC's shooting. But what I'd be curious to see is his percentage inside of 10 feet and outside of 10 feet. You have to agree with me that those percentages would be LIGHT YEARS apart. When he starts out a game missing his first 4 or 5 open jump shots, that might be a sign to put on the brake lights and contribute more to passing to a teammate or driving to the hoop and getting a better shot. I'm gonna venture to say about 7 or 8 of those 10 misses were outside of the 10 foot threshold. If an injury is keeping him from shooting it well, then he needs to slow it down and wait for the injury to fully heal and correct itself, instead of digging a 10 possession hole with shots that aren't even close to going in. There really wasn't one shot he took that was even close to going in. Not one. Those were essentially wasted possessions.

TC is a HUGE asset to this team. He helps the team in a LOT more ways than trying to run up jump shots that don't have a prayer of going in. We don't need him doing that. It's not necessary. We need him playing solid, incredible defense, check, slashing to the bucket and getting good shots at the rim, check, shooting good at the line, check, and rebounding when needed, check.

There's a very good reason why the CU defenders were giving him a good 5 feet every time he was outside of 10 feet. Don't fall for their trap.

    • On west coast/work media blackout until I got home.

Had my DVR set to record 10 mins over time. At 2:10 mins, with :34 secs left in the game recording runs out. Scramble to get to ESPN3 without seeing the score. What a finish.

What can be said that has not already been said. We have a TOUGH team. Once we get Carl and Cle combo figured out, holy. freakin. crap.

Crowd looked awesome on TV. Wished I could have been in the house.

BTW, what a fantastic week of college basketball. I love college basketball like conspiracy nuts love tinfoil hats.

        • I've watched Creighton many times this year and started to believe Chatman is a good one who got away from us. But he better play much better than he did today or we will continue to own him.

I can't ever remember the guy's name but I hate him. He isn't smart at all. He constantly gets things wrong with WSU. He wonders about our press -- we will get tired he says. Lol. At the end of the CU game he was saying we were going to foul once the ball crossed half court. Now, why is that so wrong?

Because when you listen to someone who actually knows wtf like Dave Dahl he throws that out as an option and then shoots it down saying it isn't HCGM's style. Dave was right. Moron on ESPN2 was wrong.

It'll take more than a couple more made baskets to offset both of those aspects.
Boise St. didn't seem to have too much problem with your fans. Don't worry, a few thousand of us will come up to Omaha and help the game sell out again and once again hit record attendance numbers.

                • That's a game to remember for a long time folks.

The students get razzed for not bringing it most of the season...A+++ yesterday. Early, loud, organized, game changing. Freaking awesome effort! I got home after the game, grabbed a beverage, descended into the Shocker ManCave and watched the replay from beginning to end. The ESPN guys spent the entire game trying to get the settings right to hear the announcers. They mostly failed. I can't tell you how many times they just shut up because talking was futile. It might not have been ear bleeding loud, but it was top 10 in my lifetime loud...maybe top 5.

Daddy's boy got a miss. Awesome.

You'll never see a player that is that good offensively and that BAD defensively. Creighton schemes to hide Doug on defense. It's amazing. I actually believe they do him a disservice but he REFUSES to challenge anyone on the defensive end of the court. They SUBBED OUT the POY in the last minute....and he only had 1 (maybe 2) fouls...unfreakingbelievable. Our defense was great and he still had 25. I know he took 19 shots, and the offense is totally built around him but that's still impressive considering the way we played him. I thought it was a joke he was a 1st team AA last year, and I still do, but he's SO GOOD offensively this year that I am not sure who beats him out. So far I think he deserves it, BUT NOT POY. You simply can't REFUSE to play defense like he does and deserve to be called the best college basketball player in the country.

I'm going to think awfully hard, but I am struggling to remember a team I am more proud of than these guys, yesterday. To overcome 2 starters out, all the injuries, the AWFUL shooting and an OUTSTANDING Creighton team, even at home, is beyond impressive.

That was a man's game, won by the men.

Without getting into semantics of who sat out what game, Demetric Williams just tied the record for most wins in a career with 98 (25-29-27-17) career wins. Obviously he'll shatter that number and be all alone soon. Amazing and impressive young man!

Did anyone else see Coach go all nuclear on the assistants at one point yesterday?

Grant Gibbs is the slowest, best player I've ever seen. I believe his "dirtyness" contributed to the F1 call. If he continues to do what he does (cheapness) then we need to seek out that hurt foot of his on the return. Turnabout is fairplay.

CU players whine A LOT! Cy runs his mouth, Gibbs too (and should have been T'd up when he screamed at the ref for an "and 1" and then yelled at him AGAIN on the defensive end. Dougie always thinks he is being fouled. Gotta stop guys. You're good and you could go a long way come March. Stop whining. You too Cle...just play the game.

So much more to talk about......

                  • Did anyone hear Mark Adams call Dougie "Coldblooded" when he made one of his 3s? I never would have guessed....

At one point, I was able to stop the play and it showed 20.8 on the play clock and 12 on the shot clock. How does CU get the ball with 10.1 showing on the play clock on a ball out of bounds on them?

Thankfully, it makes no difference now, but at the time, I thought the refs blew it and it hurt the Shocks.
You have to tithe 1.9 seconds of your shot clock when you play Creighton.

The commentator was right. We were supposed to foul. Coach even mentioned that we were supposed to foul at half-court but the refs didn't call it. While I normally would have done that strategy, I might reconsider the way the game was going. I am not sure I want it to be a foul shooting contest the way we were shooting. However, CU was out of timeouts before Wragge got his first 3 shot, so McD wouldn't have been able to set something up.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

I'm afraid for the next team/player that we are in a similar situation with.
