  • As pour a tall portion of Woodford Reserve over some eagerly waiting cubes, I am awash with embarrassment over my post Illinois State tirade over the Shocks awful turnover woes.....Grit, heart, determination..not just from our beloved Shockers, but a similar performance from the Jays and Doug Mc. Props to all of the players for a great game and to all of you who attended and made it seem like my house was shaking. Pretty games are rarely memorable. This one was not pretty, but was simply great. It was not our super bowl, but after the wee wee down our leg at Evansville, it was critical to post season positioning. I have gone to Omaha the past two years.....Just might have to make it again. Slainte! Go Shocks!

    • Just in case we haven't said it. Great game CU another instant classic between the top two Basketball programs in The Valley... Back to the scotch, and/or whisky!

        • No more than I made my early arrival today, The Bluejays entered the court to warm up and was greeted by some robust students that booed them to the max. It was wunner-ful--wunnerful--wunnerful and Mr. Welk used to proclaim and I was grinning from ear to ear!!!

          • Then the students were doing a weave from side to side and FSF tried to join in, got dizzy and almost fell into a bluebird fan. Yikes. Malcom has ice-wata in his veins with that key steal from Doug M. followed by some needed throws. This may have been the most fun game I have ever witnessed. We rebounded like rock stars. Guess what? Only 7 turnovers for us? Yikes.

            • This is what you call a reference game. It will be referred to for years to come.

Can't imagine that this game didn't come off well on television.

The difference in the game was the Shox only turning the ball over 6 times compared to Creighton's 14. That's the difference in the ball game right there. The defense and CH's return won this game.
And don't forget we also didn't have a FG and missed 6 FTs in the last 5 minutes of the game.

Whew! That was tremendous work, and the players worked just as hard. Best crowd since the Florida State NIT game.

What can you say. The Shocks beat the #10 ranked team (and that ranking is legit IMO) on a day when they really did not shoot the ball well at all. Only way that happens is that this is one of the toughest teams, both physically and mentally, (if not the toughest) that Wichita State as ever run out on the hardwood at 21st & Hilldside.

Hope Creighton stays in the league. This game as a whole was just at a another level.

Doug McDermott is a player and deserves all the accolades he has received. Bottom line though is that McD's brilliance was simply not enough to overcome the toughness and will to win of the Shocks.

Hopefully, the game came across well on the tube.

                  Way to go Shocks!

There was nothing "mid-major" about today's game, that's for sure.

                    • Awesome to see Hall so excited after the game. I thought it was pretty cool that 3G came and thanked the student section for their support after the game. My best memories as a Shocker fan have came against Creighton. Kyle Wilson was in the house and he couldn't have picked a better game to come to.
Shocker fan for life after witnessing my first game in person, the 80-74 win over the #12 Creighton Bluejays at the Kansas Coliseum.

                          This.

Those were maybe the two best MVC teams that the league has seen in the last thirty years. I will not be surprised if both squads go undefeated until the rematch. It will be a crime if either one is seeded worse than a 4 or 5 on Selection Sunday.

                            • And CU fans whining about the refs, (that sounds familiar however). The refs allowed a "street fight" out there. So? CU fans bent out of shape that their team has to put on their big boy briefs? Officiating should never be the difference in the game, especially when it's the top two teams in the conference. I thought the refs let them play, wish the refs could consistently officiate every game like they did today. Let the boys play I tell ya.

                              • WOW.

Suck it, sCUmmies! There was some blue polka-dotted around Koch today. I hope they enjoy their trips home!

Our offense was not there today. Our FT shooting, especially late, was atrocious. But we still GUTTED it out. That's 4 of the last 5 to WSU over sCUm.

Excellent basketball game. Koch ROCKED! Students were A-gaming it. Lot of BJ turnovers I'd attribute to atmosphere. LOVED the Daddy's Boy chant. Got a missed FT out of it.

BJ's are tough. McDonald or whatever his name is, is pretty good. Really smooth stroke. Dougie got his points, we played average, and still won.

Cotton's D was amazing but he needs to be given a red light from outside of 10 feet. Seriously. Those 10 missed shots were not close and were essentially turnovers. I've said it time and time again. TC is not a jump shooter. Grade A defender, good slasher, NOT a jump shooter. Make some FT's and some 3's and we win by about 15.

SO GLAD FOR THE WIN! LOVE THIS TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope that last miss by Wragge STUNG, BJ fans. LOVE IT!

                                ... No really, deuces.
