  • Athlete Dining Facility

Where do WSU basketball players, or any athletes, eat at during the school year? I am asking because I was reading a story about Notre Dame football before Brian Kelly arrived and it said that they had no special dining facilities for their athletes. This was causing most players on average to lose between 10-15 pounds a season, and Lineman upwards of 30 pounds. That's unacceptable. As a smaller athlete in high school I needed to maintain my weight of roughly 168 pounds for me to even feel as if I could hold my own defensively, blocking out, and driving the ball strong. I had many friends on the team go from 205 to 190 in a season 195-180. It's incredible how much weight an athlete can lose if not properly nourished, and it is hard to stay nourished with a busy schedule. There can be a significant drop in performance - or increase- depending on the weight and the specifics of the player.

My question is, what resources do the basketball players have here, and is it something they monitor?
The mountains are calling, and I must go.

I don't think we have a facility specifically for athletes to eat at. I'm pretty sure I've seen Early eat at the Pizza Hut in the RCS a few times, and I know I've seen athletes eat in the RCS or at Blimpies.

generally the coaches will have dinner catered in to the champions club so they can eat as a team after practice. sometimes they will do a meal out (saw cle, nick, demetric, and mr cotton at bww on thursday) on their own, sometimes as a team. i would imagine that they are on their own for breakfast and lunch.

Wichita State has a "training table" just like any other high-level athletic program. Pre-game meals are carefully prepared based on each player's needs to optimize athletic performance.

I understand Sweet Basil caters 12-15 team meals per season.

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."
