If Dr. Beggs felt he was right for the job, who am I to argue.

A lot of the issues that people have had problems with in the past have been handled by the AD. They listen. People complained about the entertainment at breaks, and how horrible the band was last year. This year, it's 180 degrees imo. The marketing department is on point with a lot of what they're putting out. I think they're over doing the #WatchUS hashtag, but that's just my opinion. The Shocker Locker is a great thing for the AD as a revenue earner and they have solid merchandise.

I have exactly the same opinion. Everytime I've spoken with him I come away thrilled that he's our guy.
I had season FOOTBALL tix... did you?

He was constantly talking to team managers, media people, SID people and what not. He seemed like he's a good guy. I have full faith in ES.

From what was posted, it sounds like he was engaging with the fan enough to get a story out of it.

I don't get all the hate for the guy. We are experiencing a time in Athletics at WSU that is really great across the board for the most part.

I've known him since he was about 15. His IQ is off the charts. He's good behind the scenes in general. Having said that, he is horrible in front of the camera. His eyes about bug out of his head. Instead of having fun with the very general softball question generally thrown his way, ADES has to attempt to turn every question into a PSA for Shocker athletics. It comes across as canned except his diction sounds like I did at 11:59 Monday night. He can't complete a sentence without tripping over his tongue. Unfortunately it comes off less than becoming.

He was going around shaking fans hands and introducing himself. The conversation with this particular fan just got weird. Sexton was shaking the guys hand, smiling and introducing himself as the Wichita State AD.. Then out of no where the fan asked him why we don't play KU in basketball, the smile quickly left Sexton's face. He went into a serious mode. The reaction was enough to leave the fan wondering if he had done something wrong and if Sexton was honestly mad. The guy looks over at me, shrugs and starts to say "somebody has a prob..??" then that's when Sexton came back unexpectedly, shaking his fist at Allen Field House. It was just enough engagement for Sexton to swing back around, quickly and explain to everyone that he wasn't mad at anyone, the subject that was brought up merely caught him way off guard and apparently triggered some deep frustration. And clear things up he did, by shaking his fist at Allen Field House. After he walked off we all sat there wondering what exactly KU's problem is..

Their problem is that Ku doesn't want to play WSU in ANY sport except baseball. The only reason they play WSU in baseball is they see that as an advantage for them (many of their biggest baseball crowds have been when playing WSU and beating WSU in baseball is seen a plus for their lackluster baseball program).

Sexton is a nice guy. But he is'nt really crazy about leaving the Valley and sounds to me like he is perfectly content here being the big fish in a small pond if CU leaves...

I have known Eric for about 20 years, He is a very smart guy and he has done a good job with the finances. He has also done a good job trying to address concerns that people bring up. But he does need to work on his public speaking.

If CU leaves, the MVC takes a giganic hit as there are no realistic BB schools that come even close to replacing them.

The big question, therefore, is not whether ADES is happy being the big fish in a small pond, but whether 3G will be?

He was the king of the hill previously at a one bid conference and left for greener pastures.

In this worst case scenario, I would not blame him one bit if he rapidly took another job.

It sounds like he may have a few personal deficiencies. If he was only perfect like most of us.

The real question is whether you are comfortable with ADES navigating WSU to a new conference if needed. Is he growing the AD wisely or simply letting it stand in place? Additionally, until I see a MAJOR infrastructure/facility enhancement with the athletic facilities, he will have at least partially failed in his AD endeavors.
                                -- No new VB facility?
                                -- No new WBB facility?
-- No new Mbaseball facility masterplan?
-- No new sports to add?
-- Any new conferences knocking on the door?
                                -- Football Yes/No question?

What is the AD doing to position WSU for the future? I'll tell you one thing though... I'm extremely thankful WSU has HCGM. What would the AD be without him?
