Actually that has been talked about. They could bring more to the table than a lot of D1 schools.

Has Washburn actually talked about it? I remember having a discussion with a guy on the CSNBBS board who knows way too much about D2 schools and he seemed to think they're in a good position to do so and could do well for themselves. I've always liked the idea of a 4th D1 in KS and it sounds like Washburn is pretty much the only option that could work.

I don't know squat about squat, so edumucate me on why they would be better than Pitt State? My impression is that Pitt State has a strong athletic fan following (though again, I don't know nuttin').

I would think football would need to be dropped in order to move up. Pitt State isn't dropping football.

            • I had ducks on the pond this morning. About 8-10 of them.

There ain't gonna be no stinkin' name change, so we might as well stop talking about it.

              • The plan that makes sense is for Washburn to go FCS for football and play NDSU and the like. Pitt State has great football and fans, but they would lag sorely in TV markets and other sports.

I am not sure what the stadium requirement is for FCS schools, but Washburn has a really nice facility.

WU already draws more fans than many D1 schools for basketball, both men and womens, and is in a nice little TV niche. I think it would be great for the state.

Could you imagine a little four team tournament?

...and when there is lead in the air, there is always hope.

No reason to wait. What about a four team tournament now with WSU, Ku, Kstate and UMKC. Kstate has been playing UMKC anyway.

While I haven't posted much, I am no newbie to this forum. Been following it for years. My "Crappy Thread" detector should be more finely tuned by now. The problem is that I can't get enough of my shocker news. This forum gives me my fix. Of course everything on it must be quality. It is found on the internet you know!

Because I don't want one dime going to the state of Missouri and I think Washburn is better than UMKC anyway. They already have better facilities.

It would be nice if we had a facility in the Raceway area of KCK we could play the games at. One that could rotate with Intrust.

"Truth be known, all athletic directors have a list in their desk. It's all part of having a plan. Sexton has had five years to come up with his list of possible replacements for Marshall - or any coach who leaves Wichita State.
