I had to laugh at the line wondering if Echenique is "too nice"

According to warren nolan, Cu has a NC SOS of 45 and WSU is 70. Which means if warren nolan is correct, Cu would now win the tiebreaker for the #1 seed:

        • The Non Conference SOS is quite a change from just a few days ago as reported by Suellentrop.

Then WSU was 66 and CU was 109.

I don't understand how things changed so quickly. Something seems amiss.

            That cannot be right.

I agree that doesn't seem right to me either. I don't see how Cu's could have improved so much just for playing the #39 rpi team on the road vs. WSU playing the #63 team at home. It should have given Cu a bigger bump than WSU but it doesn't seem like it should have improved that much.

Have all of our non-con opponents been on losing streaks, and Cu's on winning streaks? I don't see how one bb game would have changed the numbers so much.

              • Unfortunately real time rpi appears to have the same numbers. It still doesn't seem right, but somehow the Cu non-con SOS has appeared to pass WSU up.

I guess this makes the next two games even more meaningful. We may have to win the next two games to guarantee the #1 seed at the arch.

                • Does the Mo Valley have their own calculation method for determining the OOC SOS? I think that it would make sense that they did, or at the very least, publish the exact formula used in determining this number. If it is going to be used as a tie breaker, it should be known as to how the thing is calculated.

                  • Sully states they use the RPI Report. Not Warren Nolan:

                    2. If head-to-head competition does not break the tie, the deadlock will be broken by non-conference schedule strength as calculated by The RPI Report on the day before the final day of conference games. The teams will be seeded in order of their non-conference schedule strength.

                    The RPI Report:

The actual RPI Report is by subscription only.

                    • There are 4 Valley teams listed in the warren nolan nitty gritty report and only Cu has a huge difference between the number posted by Paul a few days ago and their current number listed on warren nolan:

WSU- 70 (warren nolan now) vs. 66 (Paul S. a few days ago)
Indy St- 29 (wn) vs. 26 (ps)
                      UNI - 18 (wn) vs. 29 (ps)
Cu- 45 (wn) vs. 109 (ps)

WSU, UNI, Indy St did all have home BB games, but I still can't believe that one game would make that big of a difference.

COME ON 1989. THE MVC DOES NOT USE WARREN NOLAN!

Since warren nolan supposedly uses the same formula as the ncaa, it shouldn't really matter which one they use, they should all be pretty close to the same. Real Time and Warren Nolan are almost always exactly the same, as they appear to be today. I am hoping there will be a big difference between the Cu numbers on the next college rpi report and the warren nolan/realtime numbers but it is hard for me to understand why they would be so different (although no harder to understand than Cu improving from 109 to 45 in one week).

                          • There have been discrepancies between Warren Nolan and The RPI Report.

Let's just win the #1 seed outright. In any case, in a co-champ situation is there really that much difference between a #1 and a #2 seed?
