You can get on your soapbox on Shockernet and preach to the choir, but all I care about is how this program is perceived nationally. Hey Ebenezer,

Shouldn't you be getting to bed? I'm expecting you to receive a visit tonight from the ghost of Shocker past, present, and future to help realign your skewed perspective.

      Wonderful.
Only by those who do not know anything about college basketball.

To bad you don't write for the BELCHER Report. You're obviously smarter than their hack, featured columnist Jesse Kramer. He apparently believes there are about 150 high-majors. And WSU is not one of them.

Apparently not. Since the BELCHER Report is owned by Turner Sports

I'd like to agree with you. But the fact is, WSU is, has been, and always will be, a better team and a better program than 75 percent of the teams that are excluded from the BELCHER Reports Bull Shat Mid-Major Top 25. Simple because of the conferences they happen to belong to. Just think, if SWOMO suddenly left the MVC and joined CUSA, they would be considered a high-major by the meat heads at the BELCHER Report.

If our coach dislikes the term "mid-major" so much, perhaps he should stop lending his name and vote to the college insider.com Mid-Major top 25 poll.

I cringe every time I see it.

Coach has mentioned several times that he doesn't do it. One of the staffers (he didn't know who) fills it out and sends it in on his behalf.

I bet the coaches poll is done the same way.

But he still allows it to be done on his behalf, using his name. For that reason I don't think he is as averse to the term as some here would have us believe.

some publicity is better than no publicity at all....

just the way it is. Coach knows how the game is played, $ brings in good assistants, good facilities, and good recruits. $ is brought in by name recognition.

If there were 100 reputable "mid major" polls out there coach would vote for us in every one of them.

This poll, and polls like it, don't do anything for name recognition with recruits. The AP and Coaches polls, no matter how flawed, are the only ones that really matter. Something from CBS or ESPN may matter for recruiting and recognition purposes, but not something from BleacherReport or other pointless sites with atrocious reporting.

What I meant is any positive reports or publicity or polls = +$$$ in ticket sales, and other stuff. more dollars = better everything else, including recruits.

Any good publicity, is good publicity...

I still don't think something like this does much for recruiting or increase in money for us. We're not recruiting a bunch of guys who want to play for a great mid. We're recruiting guys who want to play at the highest levels and compete nationally. And we're going to compete nationally.

If we're recruiting against teams like Siena, Fordham or Belmont, then I could see things like this having some value. But we're not. I also don't believe WSU being 1st in the MM25 poll versus 10th, 20th or 30th has any affect on whether someone buys tickets to the game or has influence on a recruit.

Watch twitter for WSU references. Virtual silence when we're in the MM25 poll, except from the poll makers. But it blows up when included in the AP/Coaches polls and CBS/ESPN power rankings.

I wouldn't even know about those polls if I wasn't on this forum. They aren't a big deal to most people.
