Carl has been a huge factor to our success. Now this opens playing time and opportunities for other players to fill this huge void. This bites and we wish Carl the best and hope he heals quick on quick. We are having a season of injuries, but by Valley time or soon thereafter, I hope we get things back to normal and finish what we started, with 12 healthy players.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

Nothing on goshockers.com or in the Eagle the article posted at 7:07 this morning. The article even said
Center Carl Hall gives WSU a reliable inside threat. It is up to the shooters to keep defenses from ganging up on him with double-teams or zones.
"I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:
          ---------------------------------------
Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

Coach Marshall is 'above the curve' in filling in the blanks when a team has injury or even foul trouble. This was the ideal Season for him to bring in his best Recruiting Class. Yes, Wessel and Hall are both starters and were playing excellent. This will leave a mark as it would any team. Even so, we still have 10 solid players that will understand the urgency of this, so look for them to 'step up to the pump' and produce by committee.

What is our best case scenerio? We can't just blow warm sunshine and expect a rose garden. Our foes will have more hope for defeating us now and will display no mercy. However, we in return will be developing our depth at a rate that will have to increase. The potential in the big picture could actually make us stronger as all 12 of our beloved Shocks reunite as a more experienced unit that can tire our foes down as we come down the stretch and all is on the line. Remember, adversity is the breakfast of Champions. Yes, we will take some hits and setbacks along the way. However, why should any of us just throw our arms up and give up on our beloved Shocks? Not going to do it baby!!!! We have just begun to fight, we are 9-1, and it is not over until it is over. When there is a setback along the way, we wiill go down swinging. Then we will get up, learn from it, jump back onto the hardwood and find a way to scatch and claw and win. Coach Marshall was Coach of the Year in the Valley last Season so we are in good hands.

Three things Coach Marshall has said about this squad. 1. Very coachable 2. Have NOT reached their potential yet, and they will continue to improve. 3. Hard workers. At our team scrimmage, 3G spoke of our return to the Dance at a time that prognosticaters were picking us from 2nd-6th in the Valley. He already knew how special this team could be. Right now, we are 9-1. Stay tuned for the Season to unfold because the Season is young and the Valley Race draweth nigh. Get well Shocks and the sooner, the better. Are you worried SN? Sleep easy because plan B is in effect until we can return to plan A with avengence!!!

Well, it is a Sunday. We'll know for certain on Monday. Until then, I'm fine with Carl Hall's thumb existing in a state similar to Schrodinger's cat.

Well, if it's closer to 4 weeks than 6, I think we'll be alright. We may lose a game or two more than anticipated, but the additional experience the bench will get could be invaluable come the second half of the conference race and the Valley tournament. This team will still have an excellent shot at the auto bid and an at-large is not out of range depending on how the team comes together on this.

Still surprised how quiet everything was about this. Get well Carl. We're all thinking of you. Hope to see ya back on the court as soon as hoped.

Edit: I hope everyone here remembers that I'm generally not a yellow-colored glasses type of guy and many times back the "realists" on this forum. Our Shocks can over come this!!

You're right, it does suck. It's the one injury we simply couldn't sustain with the goals we've set.

Coach Marshall often times is very quiet, if not cryptic about injuries. I suspect we hear an update on the coach's show tomorrow. I suppose there's a way it can be immobilized earlier to allow his return, albeit limited.

It is what it is....we had a team that was a top 30 team, at least, and plenty of room to improve. Now we're going to be different for awhile. It's life. Yes it sucks, but it's also going to open new doors. I feel bad for Carl, especially since it's his last season, but there's nothing that can be done about it. Adjust, move forward, get better.

This team, if it believes and continues to listen to the coaches and learn, can still reach the highest of goals.

                            One game at a time.

And folks, your support is needed now more than ever. Now would be a good time to make plans to get to the games, bring friends and be loud. Energy and emotion can do wonders for the psyche.

Does anybody know the answer to this question? If Carl is out 4-6 weeks, the off shooting hand would be an easier task to deal with. I appreciate the positive input of the last few posts. Carl has been the heart and soul of this team, providing Senior leadership. He is a class act and Carl will lead from the bench as well until he gets healed up. We are very blessed to have you on our team Carl and we wish you a speedy recovery.

It is his right hand. I heard he will have surgery on it this week. He fell in practice bracing himself with his right hand. Unfortunately the thumb took the brunt of force and snapped.
