Let's hope all the top tier non-bcs schools are gathering to fill the scheduling gaps going forward.

I heard they were keeping it but they are just changing the name to ballbusters to reflect its actual purpose more accurately.

      It maybe it was balloonbusters...

What's to become of all this joy if the replacement game features an opponent with an RPI of 200+? Not only us but some of the Valley teams that don't attempt to schedule aggresively? Is this a boon to the Valley's comprehensive RPI.
With the direction it's been heading, odds were going to be that it would be adding at least one RPI 200+ game a year, possibly two for a bunch of the valley.

It is annoying that the two most meaningful Bracketbusters games mentioned in the article are ones the Shocks lost!

The original Bracketbusters had Gonzaga and Butler in it and was limited to about 20-30 teams. That was pretty legitimate. What it transformed to was a clusterf**k of crap. I'll be honest. We did get some pretty good games out of it - Mason, VCU, Utah State, even Davidson. I don't know how easy it is to get home and homes with schools with that kind of geography. Let's hope we can. But it is a good day that our fates aren't sealed with the heads of ESPN anymore. Somebody's listening or reading somewhere...

Nice to see the Wichita Eagle getting some positive Pub.

Wichita Eagle? Never heard of it. Oh.. you mean the newspaper that hilariously tried to charge its readers to peruse their sophomorically edited tripe?

Hey don't take it out on the Eagle. I like to weigh the entire blame on Bob Lutz The Putz

                    1. While the Big East's seven non-FBS basketball schools are deciding what course of action to take next, there is one school that would love to be a part of any new conference or conglomerate: Gonzaga.

"...2. Wichita State coach Gregg Marshall, formerly of Winthrop, had kind words for the BracketBusters when he said the event “was good if you were in contention for the tourney and the national television exposure helped the nation to realize the quality of some non-BCS programs." I was a fan of BracketBusters at the beginning, but wanted more participation, not less. When the Colonial Athletic Association checked out of the event or was not in the event, I didn’t see how it would be able to have long-term success. I can tell you this: These matchups were given a lot of thought, and the conference commissioners and those in ESPN programming didn’t take them lightly. This is ultimately another casualty of conference alignment...."

Im glad this is over with. Now on to that plan I suggested. WSU has got to fill ywo more games a year now, hopefully with quality opponents.
