The average fan doesn't realize UNT is a good team. Hell, there are people on this board that still mock them because they were in CUSA a couple of years ago, despite being one of the best teams in the conference each season, and having better coaches and players.

People should mock the American Conference.

Warren Nolan: American not listed in the Top 10, however, the Conference USA is #8, West Coast #9, and MVC #10.

Team Rankings has it the same way.

Note: That is with Memphis still here. If they're able to catch on to another conference, maybe the Valley will take us back.

I kinda feel bad for UNT. My daughter goes to school there and I've been to a handful of games. They don't get a lot of fan support in either football or basketball but they generally field competitive teams every year. Their NIL is not very strong from what I can tell. Somehow they continue to get it done. They have a pretty big student body and a lot of dorms on campus, plus a good number of "off campus" apartments within walking distance, yet still can't muster a decent crowd to see them play.

I’ve been through Denton a time or two. Even spent a couple days there on a work trip. It seems like a neat place. Huge enrollment on campus. I wish we were good enough to make it worth going down there sometime for a road game. Because it’s an easy trip, especially where I’m located.

Unfortunately, because North Texas is not UT or A&M, it will probably always be treated as inferior by some of the locals.

I was gonna go up for the game this year (its about 4.5 hr trip for me), but decided to pass. I'll be at the game at Rice. If you see someone with a paper sack on their head, it might be me.

Texas does not support college hoops. Houston with a good team and a population of over 7 million (greater Houston area) barely fills their arena. Wichita with a bad team and a population of around 700K (greater Wichita area), averages just below 4000 fans a game. (Guessing on this attendance).
As bad as college hoops has become, Wichita still loves it. But interest will eventually die off, if the nil and transfer rules remain.

WSU is not going back to the Valley. Book it.
Had enough of Terre Haute, Frostbite Falls and Carbondale, IL. Do not need to play the likes of Mo State, Ill State and others again.

AAC will look pretty good tonight when UNT comes to town.
Good team with athletes and well coached. They have speed, play tough defense and work hard for 40 minutes.
WSU could be in for one good assbeating tonight.
