I really am not into TV shows or movies as much, but listening to music and reading both sound good. It just means that I need to force myself to actually sit down and do it. I have always liked this band anyway, but after watching the Bon Jovi documentary, my wife has also really gotten into that music, so we both have done a deep-dive of his music, more than just the usual hits. I got a book for Christmas about the 1998 Yankees. Good book so far, but again, I kinda have to force myself to sit and read it.

I still root hard for my teams, but I hope my life has more depth and meaning than just living vicariously through other people being good at sports.
This resonates with me on a deep level
Brummett throws, STRUCK HIM OUT! THE SHOCKERS ARE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS! AN UNBELIEVABLE STORY!

I know it's not a popular stance here, but we don't know if IB was the answer or not. He'd never been a head coach before and he was learning too. The debate is, should he ever have been given the job? But once he had it he really wasn't given time to grow into it. Yeah I know; 3 years (one in which he had to step in unexpectedly) and we weren't willing to wait. But this current guy has been one and is proving to not be a very good one, so in hindsight maybe we should have.

Biggest mistake was not doing a full search after that first year. If HCIB was the best we could get, that's fine. I guarantee you that there were likely better options out there and HCIB would have landed very quickly at another school that likely would have been better for him long term.

Though I can appreciate the difficulties in not giving a contract given the way that year went.

I root for the Shockers, but mostly enjoy the company of the fine people on this forum (with maybe 1 exception.) I don't live and cry by the lack of success.

A couple of years ago I started playing video games. That's fun to do in my free time. It started with a game called Injustice2. Got good, kind of really good after 7 years or so and was invited to join one of the top 2 guilds (50 players per guild) in the world (gimme a break here, I'm not bragging, it's just video games :-). I still have a few top 10 Legendary event scores in the world from hundreds of thousands of players and events. Last year it changed to minecraft. Mother in law started coloring (actual coloring books) because (she says) it helps with brain function, stress reduction, creativity, and a number of other things (she was a RN). So I wanted to try something different and now I minecraft in some of my free time, which is kind of like playing with LEGOs on the computer, but the tools and blocks available to players is expansive. I'm limited only be what I can think of, so when I see something in the real world, I'm like "I can create that in minecraft." Tends to drive the wife a little crazy, but after 30+ years, I gotta do something to annoy her.

          • 3G effectiveness was waning, I think a lot had to do with the loss of Jans and then Heier. IB was elevated to #2 by default but he was not on the same level as the other 2 guys. He was a pretty good recruiter, but not sure abut his scouting/game planning and coaching strengths. He got the job be default and you can't argue against giving him a shot, especially since he had just won the league as an interim. There would have been hell to pay from the woke crowd had he not got a chance given the timing of everything socially. It is what is and we can't change anything right now. At WSU we've had a lot more busts with basketball coaching hires than we've had homeruns. We should be used to it by now.

Which is what makes JS and his 2 for 2 hires even more impressive. It was really cool to see him at the game Saturday night. Stud!

I have no problem giving IB a chance but it didn't have to come with a golden parachute that we are still paying for.

IB probably did enough as interim to earn a gig at a lesser program, but I am highly skeptical anyone was going to give him a better deal than the one he received from WSU.

I know what you are saying but wholeheartedly disagree with the premise. In the same kind of quandary as forcing 3G out or not, WSU needed to do what was best for WSU, not for what the Shaq/TP/ ******* types thought was best. Because if WSU catered to the latter and it went badly, those asshat types weren’t going to do a damn thing to help us recover.

I disagree with it as well, I'm not advocating for what was done.
