Wichita State (10-5) at UT San Antonio (4-8) Game Discussion: Jan 11 (Sat)

Last year we were the 121 defense via Kenpom. That was 40 spots worse than any of the IB years and obviously worse than any recent Marshall year (including the "bad" defense in 2018).

This year we are 170....

That is still 50-100 spots higher than 5 of his 6 years at Oral Roberts. This is still a "good" defensive team by Mills standards

Agree but the offense is not the major problem. It is the horrible defense which is why for some time now I have been begging for a change. We can't play M2M so in response to 1972 it's our defense that is so very VERY bad and is responsible for these horrible losses.

I woke up with a little more perspective. We have the new offense we want now. What if he figures out the defense? He has shown he can evolve the offense, so he's found a way to get the team to buy into making the big changes it takes to succeed. If he can get them to buy into better defending, we have something.

Didn't watch the game. Didn't listen. Checked in to shockernet to see what the score was. Liked maybe 1 comment about how nothing ever changes, and promptly checked out. We've really just lost a lot of interest in Shocker basketball the last couple of years. I don't know if that's depressing as someone as said, it's just different. To be fair I don't have an interest in any college basketball as I used to. Don't watch football at any level. I've just been visiting shockernet for so many years I don't know of anything to replace it with. Sorry to hear about the game results for those fans.

Unfortunately it has come to fruition.

WSU now resides in the AAC basement with the Charlottes and East Carolinas of the world.
And I do not see a way out of it.

The recruits HCPM and staff have brought on board are ORU level types.
They might be ok in The Summit Conference, but not the AAC and not even close.

The next month plus of WSU basketball is going to be tough to watch, endure.
Actually reminds one of teams back in the 90's - which I didn't think we would ever see again.

Today was the first game I intentionally decided not to watch since the MT era. I had a surplus of old laptops and tablets to dismantle with a sledgehammer. Luckily I chose wisely.

He ran the offense through Ballard for the first time, which was awesome. It was way overshadowed by bad defense and UTSA shooting 50% from 3 on 30 attempts.

Generally I agree or appreciate your perspective. Do you remember when smithson brought his players from BCCC? They had to WALK the ball up the court because they couldn’t run and dribble at the same time.
