The game was televised locally. That doesn't help ticket sales when it's a bit cold outside. Even though it wasn't really cold outside. Perception is reality.

We always do better on Saturdays. A Wednesday non conf. game during December is a more difficult sell. The arena was mostly full except for the empty corporate seats.

Kinda disappointing. I figured it would be a sure sellout.

$30 a ticket? Man, I didn't realize they were that high now. Kinda funny when you read about $5 tickets at Missouri State and other places and they can't even fill half their gyms. I guess that makes me feel a little better.

Welcome to the big time guys. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. I bet the ticket prices back in the '90s were very affordable. Anyone want to re-live those days?

You can't underestimate the Wednesday night church factor in Wichita. My nephew was very excited about the Tulsa game before the season started. He said you have to get me tickets to that one, but once he found out it was a Wednesday night game he changed his mind. The Wednesday night church activities are much more important to him than Sunday.

There are hundreds of factors that play into a crowd I'm sure. Here is an example some of you might find surprising, my mom is a pretty avid shocker fan yet she rarely attends non-conference games unless it is a big name (tulsa apparently didn't fit the bill). Yet she will attend any conference game, doesn't matter if it's Evansville or Northern Iowa.

If we're ranked we might sell out N Colorado and Charleston Southern, but probably not. I would guess we sellout every conference game.

Very good point and I have heard quite a few people complain that the Intrust game is not part of the season ticket package but if we want a top 25 program then we fans have a price to pay.

Plus if you are in row 34 you might end up with the dreaded partial view behind one of the poles up there.

Top 20 reasons why I didn’t attend last nights game

                    1. Economy

                    2. Wednesday game

                    3. Economy

                    4. Game televised (I prefer to sit at home on my fat a$$ with a six pack of Shocktop)

                    5. Economy

                    6. Depression (see Economy)

                    8. I can get game updates on Twitter

                    9. Economy

                    10. Eric Sexton

                    11. Economy

                    12. People in front of me stand up half the game and block my view

                    13. Economy

                    14. I never win “Chiliheads of the Game”

                    15. Economy

                    16. I can’t pronounce the names of half of the players on the team (oh well, neither can Mike Kennedy)

                    17. Economy

                    18. Danny who?

                    19. Economy

                    20. I thought all Shocker games were sold out?

I saw a commercial the other night on the Big 10 network for the University of Minnesota Men's basketball team. They are selling tickets to all Minnesota basketball games in November and December for $15 and the $15 ticket comes with a $5 food coupon that can be used for any item sold at the concession stands.

Minnesota is in the big 10 and is having a good season, yet they have to do a promotion like that.

I guess I shouldn't be complaining that we couldn't find a little over 100 more people to pay $34 to sit in the last couple of rows of Koch arena.
