Not to beat a dead horse, but as I looked at Minnesota, and I had visions of them beating some teams in their conference and improving their net, but I saw their next game is tonight with Indiana. I also saw tickets were available for this game still. As low as $2 each.

So it's not entirely impossible to think the WSU admins might figure out the way to get people into Koch is to simply drop the ticket prices to $10 2 days before game day. Stop with the incessant ticket fees and utter bullsh*t. $10. Ten ones. Two fives. A ten. Forty quarters. Whatever. Ticket. Get in. Watch. Buy a hot dog.

That gives passers by the opportunity to rethink and reschedule and show up at the ticket office (even a day early). I promise you. Completely. No one who purchases season tickets will care they didn't wait. They are supporting you already. You need to reach a different market. Maybe think outside the box. Set aside 500 tickets for USD259 students. Buy one and get your student in free - I would think this would go well on weekend games.

Seriously though, the admins are not just missing the boat, they're missing the ocean.

Yeah, I've posted the same here. You could even range the price of empty seats to $20 if they're in the lower half, $15 for the 10 or so rows above the entrances, and $10 for everything else to the top. I would happily attend at least three or four games with my family. They have to start separating in their minds the raising revenue part (very important of course) from having more people at the games to create a better atmosphere.

And it's not rocket science to know that they could raise revenue this way. Maybe not as much as they'd like, but selling unused seats for $10-$20 or so adds up more than $40-$80 seats going unsold.

          3000 x $20 = $60,000.00

          0 x $80 = $0.00

          That adds up

That's an extra $1M over the season in additional revenue that's currently not doing jack ****.

it's very simple, $10 at the ticket window 2 hours before gametime.

The NET has always rewarded throttling bad D1 teams. It's why Id rather us play a bottom 10 D1 team vs a d2 team

This is what rubs me the wrong way. There was a comment on a recent Shocker MBB FB post about the price of tickets. Saal had a pretty lengthy reply, where he said that WSU had made concessions cheaper, gave people cheaper options for season tickets, maintained season tickets/fees prices, etc. but, his point was that in other areas the administration had either made things cheaper, or kept prices the same, all as a justification for high ticket prices.

I do not understand how he can look in the arena, see it half full, hear from the fan base that the ticket prices are way too high, and do absolutely nothing about it. I understand the department is in the red, but more ticket sales will help, regardless of price, much more than no ticket sales.

Exactly. Can't sell a lot of cheap hot dogs or merchandise when only 3000 fans are showing up.

The solution seems simple, then. KS doesn't want to budge. The only answer is for WSU Men's basketball to run the table, win the rest of their games, without additional revenue or NIL funds, make the NCAA Tourney, go to a S16 or Elite 8, repeat next year, and, eventually, 2 or 3 years down the road they may have some increased interest.

So his argument is that concessions cost a couple dollars cheaper for the evening and they've lowered prices for those that can most afford higher prices. Therefore, those who can't afford to buy season tickets and such should be happy to pay at least twice as much as we were for a Final Four caliber team and enjoy a hotdog for a dollar less? That math isn't mathing.

Is there anyone in the athletic department that has a background or degree in business? It doesn't seem like it.

Maybe they should have taken some classes from Prof Perline back in the day. I know I always paid attention.

Here. Here's a video. Maybe someone in the admin office should watch.

If you asked me to name professors that I had at WSU back in the early 70's, Perline would one of the few I could name, and he'd also be the first one I would name.

Comparing Wichita State's NET Ranking #79 compared to other teams, depending on how many losses they have. For example,
there are 25 teams with just 1 loss and WSU is number 24, i.e., 23 other teams have a better NET ranking then WSU. There are 32 Teams with 2 losses that have a better NET ranking than WSU and so on...

Kinda makes sense. How many one loss teams have a 40 pt loss on their record? That killed our metrics. We dropped like 20 spots from that

The whole reason we have metrics like NET, KenPom, et. al., is to get away from judging teams solely by how many losses they have.

So I guess the point is that the NET is doing what it's designed to do?
