That's what I was remembering too, Sub. Obviously not adjusted for inflation, but it's fair to generally say tickets are nearly twice as much now, for an inferior product.

The inflation adjustment on $20 from 2013 to 2024 takes it to about $27. But yes, more cost for an inferior product. That said, this year's team is fun (and sometimes frustrating) to watch, but personally I can't justify $40 a ticket to see them.

I could see $40 against a ranked team where the Shox had a reasonable chance to win the game. K-State??? Let K-State fans buy those $80 tickets and support the WSU athletic department.

I just don't have enough attachment or emotional investment in the current roster to get excited about seeing them in person. Ballard, maybe, but it's hard to develop a lot of interest in a one or two year player. It pretty much takes s a player like Early, who could provide a lot of excitement, to develop a lot of fan interest in a short-term player.

Agreed. I miss getting to see a player develop over a number of years. The joy of seeing FVV, Baker, and Tekele as freshman, and then getting to watch their games grow was wonderful.

This is why I hate NIL. I don't hate players get compensated for their time and efforts, but from a fan perspective, it feels like a revolving door of names on a roster.

Could you be thinking of the epic Baker/Van Vleet thread on MVCFans started by Aargh before the start of the freshman campaign ?

Posters like DoubleJay and a couple SWOMO dweebs talked a lot of crap that they could never get away from.

After Trump won in 2016 the ultimate NeverTrumper, JH4P, gave up on Shockernet. He came back for a little bit, but informed us we're all goobers and took his ball and went home. Too bad, I liked the guy.

Poor ol' JH4P. I hope he's not going through a bad relapse.

Thanks. After your post I had to see if that thread was still there. Yep. 37 pages of other Valley teams insisting their guys were as good as Baker and VanVleet. The most memorable was some SWOMO posters insisting a guy they recruited out of Wichita and another guard they had were every bit as good as Baker and VanVleet.

That thread had more than a 4-year life.

A week ago, in this thread, there was a remark about how much the MVC had fallen and that they may no longer be considered a Mid-Major. I made a post showing the NCAA Net Ranking of conferences and it look that they would still be a considered one as they were #10 in the rankings. We were #8.

A few days later, in another thread, I posted that we had dropped to #10, but the Valley was still behind us as they had dropped a notch.

                          As of 12/13:
                          1 SEC 0.616 Auburn (8-1) 1
                          2 Big Ten 0.598 Oregon (9-1) 2
                          3 Big 12 0.578 Kansas (7-2) 3
                          4 ACC 0.554 Pittsburgh (9-2) 4
                          5 Big East 0.551 Marquette (9-1) 5
                          6 WCC 0.530 Gonzaga (7-2) 6
                          7 Mountain West 0.520 Utah St (9-0) 7
                          8 Atlantic 10 0.516 Rhode Island (9-1) 8
                          9 CUSA 0.510 Liberty (9-1) 10
                          10 MVC 0.510 Drake (9-0) 9
                          11 Big West 0.510 UC Irvine (9-0) 11
                          12 American 0.506 Memphis (7-2) 12
Guess we might even be considered Mid Major, much less a Major.
