If we didn't know their previous stats you couldn't tell they were good shooters. Really bad form. No rhythm. No consistency. Obviously no confidence.

I, as one of very few here, was not particularly impressed with the hire of our coach, so I'm trying to avoid that. I would have preferred Brown to have stayed another year due to our (WSU) being strapped for funds and hope that we could land someone with more credentials later. As it is, I'm trying to be as positive as I can about our coach, even if I may not be able to that often. Our situation is what it is. We have a lot of seniors this year, so I'm hoping that ones like Pipkin and Williams (and maybe some nice Jucos in the future) can carry us as we'll have a lot of holes (minimum of 8?) to fill for next year.

Oh, well see, the extended run that Florida went on apparently due to a lineup mismatch "was Paul Mills' fault." You know, Paul Mills, the one guy who could do something about a lineup mismatch?
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

            • Mystery solved. I'm sure with the right players in the game it would have been a different outcome.
Shocker fan for life after witnessing my first game in person, the 80-74 win over the #12 Creighton Bluejays at the Kansas Coliseum.

Sorry but he just comes across weak. His voice is shaky, he’s fiddling around, and he says it’s not his guys fault? He’s delusional if thinks that it’s all due to line up. We played soft, the plan was nowhere near solid, and a million other things.

**** like that doesn’t just happen. It’s not a 64 team tourney. You have one guaranteed opponent and one of two other teams who you can scout.

Im trying really hard to be graceful but damn this game really shifted my perspective, and just about the only thing that’s gonna earn it back is pummeling K State and/or beating Memphis. The other games are pretty much bottom of the barrel and mean nothing.

                • I had never heard of Mills when he was hirws. I decided to give him a chance because there wasn't an option. I've tried to sty positive, but...

,,,thw offenset he ran in the Summit League isn''t going to work unless he can recruit some guys who can run that offense against teams with athleticism and a pulse. The BBIQ of teams he's facing now is higher than the teams in the Summit. 3 point shooters in the Sumit woulld have had more time to get their shots off.

I thinkw had about as many shots stuffed at the rim as made at the rim.

We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

                  • I've been a " give the guy a chance" since he was hired. So far, I'm disappointed in the offense scheme. The defense has been good at times and bad other times. Rebounding has been pathetic of late.
But in all honesty, there is nothing HCPM could have said to satisfy us about that game.
We really don't have a choice on who the coach is right now, nor will we next year. So I will continue to cheer the shocks on and hope for improvement.

There is still a candle flickering as he has definitely improved the roster and I like a couple of his assistants. We also have 3 guys coming back in January (hopefully positive contributors). So while the florida loss was a tough pill to swallow, it is not the end of the world.

                    • I get that Joy is young and we have other young guys on the bench that don't play but here's some food for thought: don't recruit guys that aren't ready to contribute. In this new era, we don't have time to develop players. At WSU, we need upperclassmen only through the transfer portal and an occasional flyer on some "diamonds in the rough".

“We don’t recruit backups.” What a novel idea. I wish someone would have been smart enough to coin the phrase.

That was a great strategy before NIL. Now "backups" are about all we can afford. So far the 4* HS guys haven't been showing up on the recruiting radar. The power conference teams are going to keep re recruiting the 4* and 5* guys just so no one else can have them. If the scholarship limit goes to 15 that will become a rampant practice.

We have three guys above Joy to play the 4, and two of them are hurt.

                            • "That’s where I messed up. Instead of trying to match them, let’s stay with what we do. Let’s make sure we’re doing the things that we’ve been practicing for the last six weeks. That’s why it’s one million percent Paul Mills’ fault."

Jesus. So his takeaway was to go back to the same crap "offense" that only works vs low major teams?

And since we play alcorn state tonight... It will look good again and confirm his decision until we get shut down by the next team with even remotely athletic players
