  • Safely home. Fun trip with a black mark in the middle of it haha. Always fun to support the Shockers away from home, but an even better feeling getting back to my own bed.
Brummett throws, STRUCK HIM OUT! THE SHOCKERS ARE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS! AN UNBELIEVABLE STORY!

I feel more apathetic than ever. Seriously. I know we’re 6-1, I know we’re better than last year, but I simply have no interest in watching small time ball. And that was never more evident than last night.

I don’t think I’ll be staying up for the next game. There really aren’t words enough to describe how disappointed I am with Mills, and maybe more importantly, tired of this program dying a slow death. Wonder what it would take for the money guys to even step back in and save it. Money shouldn’t be a problem. Not in freaking Wichita.
We were 8-1 coming off of the Richmond game last year.

I *think* we look better this year, but the door is fully open to us being just as bad.
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

Having a true point guard puts us way ahead of last year's squad. Also, the conference is awful so we're going to win more games than last year.

Shocker fan for life after witnessing my first game in person, the 80-74 win over the #12 Creighton Bluejays at the Kansas Coliseum.

          Point guard is good.

Terrible 3-point shooting is the sh*t that has not come off the shoe.

          • I really don’t understand why we are destined to be the worst 3 point shooting teams in the country every year. I really thought it was Isaac Brown’s system holding us back.

You can have athletes OR skill in this era at our budget. Us, and the rest of the conference have consistently picked athletes.

I hear ya. Would it kill the current roster composition to mix in a Graham Hatch?

Go out and recruit a dead eye shooter that doesn't fit the athlete mold.

We can recruit a roster full of "athletes" but if no one can shoot what does it matter?

The problem with this is, that's exactly what we've done. Washington is doing well so far, at 40%.
Hill was a 33% 3pt shooter for 4 years before here.
Meeks is injured but was a 34.5% 3 pt shooter for 4 years and never under 32%, but he's out with an injury.
Bell was a 38% 3pt shooter at Drexel for 2 years.
DeGray has been a 30%+ 3pt shooter for us but he's injured.

It feels like it's been a decade since we've had a good outside shooting team. Whatever we're trying isn't working. And it's not like we're a good defensive team.

And I'm not sure that's what we've been doing. One thing about a player like Hatch is you can instantly tell he has good shooting form and it comes naturally to him. Sure, he might be a one trick pony but he provides something no one on this team can... and he would take care of the ball better than most. We have nothing like that on this roster.

Defense is not necessarily an athletic thing. It's generally learned, particularly on a team level.

Don't want you to misinterpret what I meant. All I'm saying is that they were good or better shooters from 3 before they got here.
