Why couldn't a "reverse marketplace" type arrangement be made for the "extra" corporate tickets, whereby they would be listed automatically and if corporate users did not "claim" them by midnight preceding tipoff, the tickets would be placed available for sale on marketplace with the sale proceeds going to SASO. For example. ABC Inc has 10 tickets, but the "owners" use four on a regular basis. The other six would be listed on this special marketplace. ABC would give any potential users a password to use to obtain the tickets (just like they would now give them the actual ticket) and that potential user would have to claim the ticket by midnight, 19 hours before game time. Any unclaimed tickets then would become available to the marketplace users without password protection. This would open these unused tickets up on gameday.

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

Totally agree! When I was stationed at MacDill AFB in Tampa, Fl, George Steinbrenner purchased 3,000 tickets for game 5 of the Stanley Cup semi-finals between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Phil. Flyers. He gave them ALL to the base to dispurse among all of the airman and soldiers stationed there.

I'm not much of a hockey fan, but I went and had a GREAT time. The Thunder are now about the only Hockey team I remotely pay attention to.

The problem with corporate tickets is they are used for entertainment purposes. You have to understand these are not Shocker fans. Often times the owners of these seats are big corporations and they simply have these tickets on hand just in case they want to take a client out. And every once in awhile the corporate secretary might route an email at 4:30 saying the tickets have not been claimed so they're up for grabs...but even that usually doesn't occur and the tickets simply go unused. So keep in mind you're dealing with corporate entities rather than fans of the program.

Move the men to Intrust, nobody will notice if the suites are empty or not.

With the new tracking systems, why cant we let people into the arena after tipoff to fill the unused tickets' seats? Sell them like gen admission.

Not sure how that works for late comers, but i would think something is feasible.

But the empty seat problem comes with getting big corporate dollars. Just the way it is. Hard to have it both ways.

FWIW. We buy our season tickets. We donate HEAVILY to SASO. We travel to St. Screwus every year for the tournament. In order to do that we work pretty intensely. We live 230 miles from Wichita, and attend as many games as we possibly can. When we don't, we make an effort to see that our seats are filled. I don't appreciate being "called out" when we cannot make it or get rid of the tickets. So in light of coach's comments, that makes two of us now with the red ass.

If your not gonna go, it serious isnt hard to give your tickets to someone that cant go very often due to finances.

I'm guessing you aren't among the group Marshall was calling out. There's always going to be a few people like yourself who just aren't in a position (local) to easily give away their tickets, other than putting them back on the marketplace. I'm sure Marshall understands your plight and greatly appreciates your loyalty!

Why not put them your tickets on the marketplace? I too, do not live in Wichita, and the one season I had season tickets, I was able to sell tix on the marketplace w/o any problems.

That is exactly what I was suggesting would address. It would REQUIRE the corporation to take action to utilize the tickets it had paid for. If it didn't take action by a given time before the game, the tickets would be available to the public for purchase. If the secretary in your example hasn't given out the code 19 or 43 hours, or whatever, before the game, the tickets go on the market. In other words, if the corporation wants clients to use them, they say, "George, here is the code to claim the tickets. Go to the Marketplace and type in the code and print off the ticket." If they don't give anybody the code, the tickets go up for public sale. Now there is no way to ensure that George will actually use the code if given the code, but neither can I be certain that if I give two tickets to my neighbor Sam that Sam will actually use the tickets.

This system would be the reverse of how it works for you and me. In our case, the tickets are up for sale only if we take action; in the suggested system for corporate tickets, the tickets go up for sale UNLESS somebody takes action.

There's a better way, no doubt, but like @BostonWu: said, some people will hang onto them until the last minute, because they want to....they don't care if the ticket gets used.

It seems to me one way around this is to identify the tickets that aren't used (that has to be easy, an anti scan if you will) and then have marketing (hello Mr. Boatright) contact "abusers" (those not attending more than 1 game for instance) and see what they can do, proactively, to get them to make the tickets available for resell. It can't be more than 100 calls (at the most).

"Hey Bill, I noticed your tickets haven't been used the last couple of games. Is there anything wrong?

Bill: No, nothing's wrong, just been busy and haven't made it to the games. I like going when they matter late in the year.

DB: Bill, I totally get that. I'm the same way. I do have a couple of clients that would LOVE to use those tickets, when you aren't going. Would you mind if my staff contacts you the day before the next game and if you KNOW you aren't going to use them, we'll resell them for you and give you a credit? It would help me out, make some fans really happy, and give you a head start on next year or some Christmas shopping!

Bill: Sure, and actually, I'm not going to the next 3 games, so you can go ahead and do that now if you want.

DB: Great! Will do, and if ANYTHING changes and you need tickets, call me and I'll take care of if for you (see section 123).

And that is all Coach Marshall was asking so I don't see his remarks addressed to you at all.

He wasn't Messin' With Sasquatch in your case.

How about this as a scenario to improve the marketplace (without getting into previous ideas of how to get more tickets to the marketplace):

At Shocker Madness you promote the Shocker Buzzer Beaters Club:

                                3 Tiers: $25/$50/$100

Buying a membership here gets you the following: First chance at buying the tickets on the marketplace for $15, day of the game, no matter the location. During the sign up, you give them all your information including cc to pay. When tickets are available you get a text message to reply yes or no. You have maybe 2 minutes. If you pass, the next person on the list gets a crack, if yes, your card is charged and your tickets are delivered by whatever method you chose at sign up, email to print, will call or image via smartphone.

After set up, it's all automated, or so close to it that it only takes a few clicks from someone in the office. Almost no extra expense (if any at all) and I would think there are a lot of people that would love to go to the games, but can't afford the SASO to have good seats but really only want to go if they get good seats.
