That's the end of his 3rd year and the date on which his early termination means we pay him 75% of the remainder of his contract and not 100%. The big issue with firing Mills then is June 30 is pretty late in the offseason to be looking for a new head coach.

There is, however, an earlier possibility. April 2026 is when the payments to Brown end. If we've gotten comfortable paying 3 coaches, firing Mills at the end of next season (March 2026) and hiring a new coach after April 2026 means we are still paying three coaches.

The payments to Marshall end in December 2026, which will free up more room. If we move on from Mills after next season, whatever new coach we hire could get a contract that materially balloons his second year.
Why coupldn't we hire a new coach Arpil 1 or so, but not terminate Mills until June 30. I'm not aware of anything that says there can only be one head coach on the staff at the same time. there has to be some way to get a new hire before firing the outgoing guy.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

      1. Pretty sure there are NCAA rules about coach limits.
      2. If it went to court, it would be pretty easy for Mills to argue that the hiring of his replacement is the official notice of termination so he should get 100% and not 75%.

                • I'm too damn old but someone or some group needs to be organizing to oust BOTH KS and PM. We are paying them to destroy our program. Give me Bush the TBT coach along with Simon and maybe Miller as coaches.

It actually dropped 10 spots from the day before.

Doesn't it show it going from 175 to 164?

That's from the game before. A lot happens between games. The day before the Tulsa game we were at 154. Not sure how, but when I update the NET thread it always shows the previous day as well.

I get the anger right now, but no, absolutely no. Because I'm also of the belief that the TBT crew needs a refresh with coaching. But that's for another discussion.

                          • I'm not advocating for this, but a few recent comments got me wondering. Garrett Stutz is done playing and at one point he had coaching on the brain. Does anyone know if he's gotten into coaching anywhere?

Also wondering when Matt Braeuer might get a HC opportunity somewhere. I know McCasland is high on him.

Is Ryan Martin still coaching anywhere? I know he spent some time at UMKC and Northern Colorado at one point, but I've lost track of him.

Do we have any other former players floating around the coaching world at any level?

Stutz is too smart to get into coaching. He’s doing quite well in the business world, from what Doc tells me.

Matt will be a head coach someday. He probably needs either more time at Texas Tech or a stop off at a smaller school before he would consider him.

Ryan Martin might or might not still be coaching. He got hit pretty hard with some NCAA violations at Northern Colorado.
