  • Charlotte pulled it out 78 - 75. Rice's 90% FT shooter, Broadnax, missed 3 of 4 in the last 30 seconds. You read that right. Charlotte was fouling Rice in the last 30 seconds, even though Charlotte was ahead, and they were putting Rice's best FT shooter on the line.

    • With 3:30 to go, it's looking like Florida is going to take down #1 Auburn on their home court at 84-69 so far.

      • Jaron Pierre had 28 today including a dagger 3 towards the end in a win over Western KY.

Shammah Scott is having a decent year at Akron. Both Akron and Jacksonville State are at the top of their conference and in the mid major top 25 rankings.

UNI won a close one over the redturds on what appeared to be Hawaiian night. They had a couple of hot tubs near the court filled with college students.

Shocker fan for life after witnessing my first game in person, the 80-74 win over the #12 Creighton Bluejays at the Kansas Coliseum.

I think a hot tub filled with college students would be a good add to the Kosich Pavilion!

That's the kind of outside the box thinking we've been missing for some time.

              • UTSA had a complete meltdown with 44 seconds left and a 4 point lead. First inbound resulted in a turnover and an and-1 for 3 points, leaving them with a 1-point lead with 17 seconds left.

Tha guy who caught the inbound pass had 3 defenders on him and brought the ball down, resutting in a tie-up, which gave the ball to ECU. Walker hit a defended (by two guys) fall-away 13' shot with 4 seconds left. UTSA got the ball across half court, but it was still a Hail Mary heave that wasn't close.

Quite unlike how the Shox defended with 4 seconds left in a game.

                • I think part of KU's problem is that they blew the biggest chunk of their NIL on Dickinson. I've always seen him be a good player, but I've never seen him be a gamechanger.

They've got plenty of NIL/alcohol/stripper/drug money available, but like so many (including us) it's pretty much a total rebuild next year as 6 of their 9 that played today are out of eligibility come April. The kid from Congo has a ton of upside, but he's also probably got 17 agents, all Saudi princes, all with their hands out, and dude's going to get a bidding war started. Even if they keep him, he's just 1 player. Start over.

                      • I have to imagine KU's situation is akin to being a major drug trafficker controlling the flow of drugs across the nation. Next thing you know everything is legalized and much of everything is outside your control.

This. They have lots of NIL money, but so does everybody else. And when you have been spoiled into buying everyone, it can make it difficult to put a team together when you're illicit strategy just become mainstream. How you use your money can be as, or more important, than how much money you possess. Some sign on at Kansas to win, some sign on as a gunslinger. Some come to prove they can play at an elite school, some come to sit the bench and hopefully get a ring.

I've also heard that Self hates the fact that there are bidding wars, and walking into a living room and saying "We are Kansas, you will win" doesn't work anymore. He needs to manage the $$$ resources, which he has never had to do before, and frankly, he's quite poor at balancing money from star to role player.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.
