  • I am on a KU boycott but had to see how it ended. WVU drew a foul towards the end that seemed undebatable. Got KU guy up in air and drew contact on shot. Made second of the FTs to take lead.

But KU had a shot at the end, and there was contact that would have easily been called in yesteryear once Doug Compton’s check cleared. Alas, ref had major cajones and swallowed his whistle in AFH to hinder the Jayhawks. God bless him.

      • It just seems like Bill Self isn't nearly as good a coach now as he was before EVERYBODY was paying players.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

Kansas can still pay players more than most schools. Self is a coach who has been resting on his laurels for several years. Also a coach who had serious heart problems two years ago. In other words the fire may have gone out and decision making not quite what it used to be... it is possible that he may be nearing the end of his coaching career. Good freshman class coming in next year, so maybe a few more years at the helm.

Not sure freshmen matter much anymore? Sure, a place like Kentucky can still score a freshman that's D1 ready year one, but if they are relying on three freshmen one-and-done players like they used to, I am not sure that will work anymore.

                        • Liberty was around 60 in Kenpom when I checked last night. That's a nice comeback win by Western KY on the road.
Shocker fan for life after witnessing my first game in person, the 80-74 win over the #12 Creighton Bluejays at the Kansas Coliseum.

I watched some of this game. 2 BIG takeaways. Liberty melted down. They should not have lost the game. That being said, WKU won without their center #5 Babacar Faye who Liberty and everyone else in the CUSA cannot handle. He's been out 4 games with a knee injury and WKU is still getting used to playing without him which requires a completely different playbook. That's part of the reason Michigan ran them out of the gym (remember they were competitive vs Kentucky). Faye isn't just one player. His absence alters how the Hilltoppers play and attack.

Anyway, yes, a very nice win and IF they can get Faye back, they're likely to shred the CUSA.
