  • WSU VERSUS DEPAUL PREDICTIONS AND PREGAME DISCUSSION

Here's the deal. Last time FSF visited a resort area, I took off my Black and Yellow Shocker shirt and begin flexing. Hark, before I knew it, I was surrounded by a concerned mob of folk with "Save the whales signs" who were hissing at me exlaiming "FSF, put that Shocker shirt back on baby!!!". Now that ruthless myth would not near haunt me as much as the last time we played the Blue Demon's, with a lead, and Sasha R. went for the steal on an inbounds pass which left this big guy (Doc knows his name) wide open and he drained the J and broke our hearts at the end of the game. Now we need some black and yellow reckoning to 'right that wrong' Tuesday night.

DEPAUL can score in leaps and bounds and returns around 4 starters from a solid team from last Season. The Shocks found a way to beat a tenacious VCU defense so can they find a way to beat this offense which will be the best one we face thus-far this Season? I hope so and here is a reason why. As the Season progresses, I think a DePaul win could help our RPI as should the VCU win. Just do it Shocks!!! The last loss to them is a slow burn and we want this win.

    Black and Yellow Shocks---77

    Blue Demons------``~~~ 74
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

Shocks need to pick it up on the offensive side of the ball including their 3-point efficiency. Improved shot selection and more patience in running the offense should help with that.

Hopefully, they will be fully engaged and their defensive pressure will frustrate DePaul.

If the game is in the 60's the Shocks win. In the 70's could go either way. In the 80's may favor DePaul.

Will their being any adjustment to playing a game in a ball room????? If so which team handles that the best may have the advantage.

A squeaker all the way to the very end with the lead changing back and forth as often as a porno queen changes positions (I did not originate this).

      Us - 63

      Them - 61

I probably won't predict too many losses the rest of the way. I am sure those losses will come, but my mind will keep going back to the defensive show we put on against VCU on the road. DePaul isn't great, but we have our downfalls right now too. Gonna be closer than we would like I feel. I think our guys will be focused and coach will have a good game plan.

        WSU - 78
        DePaul - 74

I'm expecting a possible beat down on DePaul. We are coming off a disciplinary game and we also have the confidence we gained by winning on the road at VCU. On the other hand, Depaul showed just how bad they can be in their ugly loss, and they are coming off a big win. They are just the opposite of us rigjt now. DePaul may be a 10 point or more win.

The following game is the one I may not be that confident about.

Yes. Decent offense from us and strong, lock down "coach is mad at us" defense.

I can't predict our score because I don't fully trust our shooting yet, but I can predict stout defense. I won't give DePaul more than the 60 to 70 range tops. That is my hope at least.

I suppose goshockers89 has it about what I'm thinking too

Reading their forums it looks like even though they blew out Austin Peay they are concerned about their poor freethrow shooting, poor rebounding and turning it over 17 times. 6 turnovers on their guards. They also foul too much. Almost sounds like a perfect matchup. We have been good at turning teams over, we have been rebounding well overall, we have been getting to the charity stripe alot.

Also here is how I expect Mal to respond,

                          8pts, 6assist, 4 rebounds, 4 steals, 1 turnover. I would take that from him!

They seem to like a fast game also. 73 shots taken their first game, only 54 taken in their loss to Gardner-Webb, 78 shots taken again against Austin Peay. Slow them down and make them play a half court game like we did against VCU. I know we are a decent running team, and will be real good later in the year. But I don't think we want to get in a track meet with them. They shoot a pretty high percentage when they play fast.

Other teams are taking like 20 less shots than them. So they must like to defend.

I think you are thinking of St Johns and Marco Baldi

The next year we played DePaul and Rod Strickland and they cleaned our clocks.

You are exactly correct Shoxlax. MB was that culprit!!! My Bad. Rod Stickland was sooo very good and played in the NBA. Now that is all the more reason we need this W. This DePaul game will be far from a cake walk.
