    • It was ugly but we will take it. I think Early got away with goaltending at the end.

        • Excellent win shockers, for your young team, and the Valley. AND sweet revenge. I was rather miffed when they knocked you guys out last year.So congrats on the huge win, and keep it up in the Non con! You're defense looks really tough.

          • I think that might have been HCGM's best coached game at WSU.

Last season Shaka made us play his style of basketball and did a great job neutralizing our strengths. We were the better team over the course of the season, but they were better that night in March. We looked slow and were caught back on our heels early in that one.

Tonight HCGM did a terrific job subbing and showed Shaka some weapons he didn't know we had. Gregg finally got the better of the battle from the bench.

            • I really don't know crap, but overall it sure seemed the key to the game was the way we consistently broke the press by never stopping movement and agressively pushing it up court. The few times they did stop (Wessel) we got trapped.

Thanks GOd we didn't lose because of that water on the end line ( and Thank God no call on basket intereference on Carl's last foul).
If you take the high road, you won't find much traffic there . . .

                • I thought VCU's gym was just Okay. They had some passionate fans but it seemed very small. Noticed a lot of empty seats in the corners. NOTHING compared to Koch Arena. Their fan board hyped up the atmosphere but I thought it was just okay.

                  • Anyway hear Shaka's and Marshall's conversation mic'ed by ESPN before the game--Gregg was in pure sucker punch mode by insisting the team would be pretty good in a couple of months. Shaka eventually agreed (after trying to compliment them now) with something like "Well you have a lot of potential."

I was thinking the best PG to singlehandedly break the press I've ever seen.

Thanks, man. Once we get to Tennessee, the offense will be much more pleasing to the eye. Hey, gotta work in the newbies.

I really, really hope this validates what they already knew and they continue to build on this win.
KC, how often can we beat a top 25 team at their yard when you shoot the ball the way we did? Yikes!! Yes, this is a feather in our cap and yes, it is too early to over react, but this was huge. Speaking of early, Early made some nice baskets at opportune times. Mr. Armstead and Mr. Baker play like players that have been here 2-3 Seasons already. Carl is hanging in there tough as well. Their fans could not get in his head and call was a good sport helping up one of their players even though he was being boed.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

Agreed- SO strong with the ball. He's basically Fridge Holman minus being a headcase, with defense on steroids.
