It is very difficult to predict what will happen this evening at VCU.

VCU is a very formidable opponent to take on this early in the season, especially on the road.

OTOH, the Shockers aren't exacly toothless, clawless or clueless either I don't believe. Still our relative lack of D-1 experience outside of Carl , Maclolm and D-Will makes this game a pretty dicey challenge for the Shocks. However, it also presents the Shocks a tremendous opportunity.

I think Tekele could be a real key to how well the Shocks play. He just seems to have the right temperament and toughness to perhaps stand up to the VCU pressure and help act as a stabilizer. Of coures, Ron, Evan, and Cle need to play well also. Whether we win are not may boil down to what kind of play we get out of EO, Jake, Fred and/or Nick. It will be interesting to see how many minutes EO, Jake, Fred and Nick get and how they hold up. Fred could be a real key also, although I'm not sure he is ready.

We are going to find out an awful lot about this Shocker team this evening one way or the other.

My guess is EO (or CJ) will be in the game when DJ Haley is in the game. Haley averaged about 16 minutes per game last year.

I don't think we will see CJ trying to break the VCU press on the dribble.

I expect the Shocks to win. Important game for NCAA tourney. Gregg brought in the juco horses to win and win now. Thats why Armstead is here. Forget about the "get acquainted" period. NCAA rules now allow extended summer/fall practice times. There is plenty of returning experience. The recruiting classes of the last 2 years was off the charts.
