Today's Nonconference Opponents "Games of Note"

We spend quite a bit of time analyzing and criticizing everything (and I agree that our players aren't perfect). But I'm going to add a different perspective for this team. For all of their faults, we have a great bunch of kids who know how to behave almost all of the time and a coach who cares that they behave with class. Almost everything that I hear from our players are comments that put WSU in a good light and our coach demands discipline in a way that should make us very proud most of the time. I just wanted to add another positive view about this team that is under a microscope most of their careers. I think that while they aren't perfect, they're great. We've not always been able to say this about past Shocker teams that sometimes were truly embarassing.

I suspect those students wouldn't find the googles so appealing if it were an opposing player providing the entertainment. Not to mention the classless move isn't even original.

I have no problem with wiggins doing it or an opposing player doing it. Best way to have them not do it is not allow them to get open looks to make the three-pointers etc.

Just like in football. don't like them doing it ? Stop them from doing it... simple as that.

I agree that a yell or fist pump is totally normal and acceptable. I enjoy seeing some emotion and the crowd and the players feed off each other; it's how it should be. Roar, beast, roar.

Not a huge fan of the goggles but I don't care too much either. Does Wiggins do them at away games? That would be a little more dicey for me. Still, they are a long, long way from Weems' pointing, throat-slashing antics.

Royal said you shouldn't celebrate for just doing your job, but it seems these guys' job is significantly different than others' because 10,000 don't stand up and scream when we go to work. I agree it has gotten very silly in the NFL where the tackler of a guy who has just made a first down celebrates while the receiver celebrates too. I guess it's like Lake Wobegon.

Has Nick done this everytime he hits a trey? The 3 he buried against CU came at a moment we really needed it. I just thought he was playing to the hometown crowd going apesh*t over the bucket. I thought it was great. The other time was against Bradley. He strikes me as a "yuck it up" kind of guy, not someone with malice in his character. Like others have stated he is nowhere near the level of a certain Mr. Massengill who played for the school formerly known as SwoMo. Who by the way, was awarded a "Lifetime Achievement Award" in the category of Douchiness by the Academy or so I've been told. Now if Nick throat slashes/crotch grabs/moons the opposing team/fans then that probably is going too far :devilish:.
