    • USM hangs on 69-67 to give us a sweep for the night. Good evening for the SoS.

Also...VCU has looked out-of-this-world good lately. That win is just gonna keep getting better.

And according to CBB fan, that VCU road win doesn't mean crap. They aren't quality and, if anything, we just lucked out.
Misinterpreting master, teach me your ways.

I said that good teams can beat us by making open shots and shooting free throws well. VCU did the first somewhat well, but shot badly from the line.

Exactly the same point as when I first posted it. We were giving teams chances to beat us; VCU had a chance, Airforce had a chance, Tennessee had a chance. Only one team converted, and they were the only team that shot free throws well.

            • Dude, let's not go there again. More times than not, a team shooting better at the free throw line will give themselves a better chance to win. It certainly doesn't hurt. But it certainly isn't earth-shattering information either. But to keep suggesting that free throws were the ultimate deciders in our wins is ****ing pissing me off. You questioned the validity of the VCU win. I'm calling you out on it. You take a WIN ANYTIME YOU CAN GET IT, particularly at VCU's home court, a place they haven't lost a game in a decade in November. So give it a F***ING rest already.

If you are going to call me out on something, expect to defend your position. Our team has done plenty of things to give themselves a chance to win against their quality opponents, but that doesn't mean we don't have faults.

My point, from the beginning, has been that fouls are turning 70/30 games into 50/50 games. You seem to believe that I question the value of winning those 50/50 games, and that isn't the case. I'm not questioning the past, but the future. If we continue playing like this, simple regression towards the mean suggests that we will stop getting lucky. We cannot rely on winning close games on the last possession every time we play a decent opponent, because sooner or later they will convert those shots or free-throws and give us an L on the schedule.

It is simply far preferable to win a game without giving the opponent a chance to win. We did that against Creighton last year and UNLV. We beat them and we didn't let them get a chance to win. This year, I believe we can win games like that but our fouling problem is preventing that.

However, I am willing to give the team 6 weeks with no griping because of injuries. I can't complain about problems because they may be solely due to personnel.

                • Ron Baker 6 weeks, Carl Hall 4 weeks. These folks are the earliest and best case projections. Unless they got some of that Wolverine X-man gene or are related to the same family that produced Adrian Peterson, these guys are shelved longer than their earlier projections. Still hoping for a 20 win season however. Thanks to the bottom 5 of the Valley sucking to high heaven, I think we can still reach 20.

Worst case scenario is that we are 14-3 going into Illinois State and Creighton by the time Carl Hall comes back, with 14 games until the MVC tournament. We can still salvage a season and get an at-large bid, and VCU is going to help our RPI.

I implore you to call in on the next coaches show and tell Marshall that 9-1 is not acceptable at this point and that fouling is generally a bad thing. That would summarize everything you've stated in the last 5 days since you melted down after the Tennessee game and maybe Marshall can tell you how good of a coach you can someday be. Maybe he'll ask you what your coaching record is now and ask where your degree of logistics came from.

We lucked out with VCU. You shouldn't even count that as a win since we didn't win it in the style you liked and it was practically given to us. Just put it somewhere between the W and L column.

You seem completely incapable of grasping my larger point, and are completely stuck something I never said and didn't mean. Is this normal for you?

You're bitching about me being stuck on something?

Laughable, coming from you over the last 5 days.

Funny, since you are the one that mentioned me by my handle in a completely different thread to complain about it.
