Nice try again though.

I just know my program and I know when someone else is blowing gas trying to light a match to it.

Haha @ another shocker, yeah Gerald was a pesky dude. I watched some of his games on NBA classics and I can totally get how he could be a pain in the ass to a fan of an opposing team. :)

You said you played in the Metro Conference?

DistrictBaller: Put Cold (C0|dB|00ded) on "Ignore" and ignore him.

Cold can be fun but sometimes he goes overboard. I like his comments at times but I don't care for him treating poorly a guest who is being (fairly) reasonable. If you say something too out-of-line, the rest of us will let you know. If WSU should win, then you seem like the kind of poster who will return and give the Shocks credit. If VCU wins, then we will give them any deserved credit. (Look at the UConn game from a couple years ago if you want to understand my comment.)
Your recommendation sounds so authoritative even I almost put myself on ignore! ZOMG!!1

I think our friend from VCU has done his part in selling us all on the "prowess" (lol) of his favorite college. Now he needs to get back to "introducing" himself to all the schools in the A10.

Wait a minute- you never saw Gerald Henderson play for the Celtics (I mean live, as it happened)? Irritating gnat is what he was- fast as sh*t, though. Maurice Cheeks finished his career as the all-time NBA steals leader, and fifth all-time assists (both since been broken, but anyway..)

        Maurice Cheeks > Gerald Henderson

Thanks for that spanglerfan, that is much better. :D

@ another shocker, I was a baby when Gerald Henderson was doing his thing. I watched some of the bigger Celtics and Pistons games on NBA Classics and videos after the fact.

I agree on Cheeks though, he was better.

Some perspective- Maurice Cheeks (Chicago kid) was doing his thing in the Missouri Valley at the same time Larry Bird (French Lick kid) was doing his thing in the Missouri Valley. MVC has long been underrated- post '75, that is. Prior to that- it was ACC level.

Gerald Henderson was a very SOLID NBA role-player FOR SURE.

Oh I don't discount the MVC. It's been a great league for a long time! It's usually much better than the CAA overall, which is/was more top-heavy and now it's even poorer of a comparison with VCU and ODU either gone or on the way out. Very competitive basketball being played in that league and it was always a pleasure to face off against MVC teams in the Bracketbusters. We got Bradley back in '07 when they were still pretty decent, you guys in '11 and UNI in this past spring. None of those match-ups did anything to dispel my admiration for the league.

Gerald Henderson strikes me a bit like Eric Maynor currently is as a VCU alum in the NBA. A very solid role-player in the league.

And I think the MVC is pure shite, so imagine what I think about the CAA or any team's ability to win that league. Autobids are shite as well.

While I was also pleasantly surprised with how well the offense was running, I could see quite a few areas where we will need to improve or risk getting beat by higher quality teams. Evan and Ron did an excellent job overall for their first game where they were relied upon for production. I particularly like the toughness they bring to rebounding. But they also tended to hold on to the ball in the half court offense a bit much. Evan got the ball a few times in the corner and a quick pass to EO was available, but he hesitated. In general, the screens seem to arrive a little bit late when the team goes to its motion. This isn't surprising, considering all the new players, and I'm sure will get much better when the team can stop thinking and start reacting.

The full court presses are excellent, up until the first guy gets beat. We fouled too much after the press broke down and couldn't force Pitt State into a half court offense as often in the second half. Again, this will get better with time.

What I love is that we have all these improvements that are still attainable and the team can already hang 100 in a game.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

One positive I haven't mentioned: EO had good technique sealing his defender for rebounds, at least when I watched him. In one motion, he smoothly and easily got position, and if EO gets position on you, just hustle to the other end of the court, because you aren't getting the rebound. However, he seems to jump for the tip rather than the rebound, instead of going up strong with two hands. Wessel needs to teach him his secrets.

I feel confident that EO will be an excellent defensive presence, above average rebounder, and 6-7 ppg scorer. More, and I'll be ecstatic.

This was EO's first real game and they hardly got him the ball. He played some great defense and made sweet moves to the basket (when he took his time). A couple of his rushed shots looked no worse than some I used to see from Stutz. He needs to get the rock on the block consistently during these cupcake games. Truthfully, everybody wanted to score it last night (especially Cle') so nobody cared to find EO. Coach will most likely discuss all the missed opportunities last night in getting the ball down low and how important it is to develop that aspect of our game for later in the season. EO was wide open several times when a guard decided to jack it up. Those 3 balls aren't going to drop every night. I'll make a bet with you that EO's shooting percentage from 2ft will be higher than our team's 3pt percentage.

EO will be a liability at the line, I will concede that. Most centers are.

I know EO is your sore spot.

It was a lot of players' first real games. The difference is EO is a senior.

I did concede that he made a couple nice moves late, when the game had been out of reach for about 30 minutes. Stutz may have rushed a few times but he was doing so while pouring in 14 ppg. I hear you on the fact that everybody wanted to be the Man last night and EO wasn't given the ball much. I think a large part of it also was because EO didn't establish clear position. He needs to realize just because he gets the ball down low doesn't mean he has to shoot the ball, and shoot it within 1.6 seconds either. He can pass it back out. He has the physique of a basketball player but he just doesn't seem to "look" like one.

EO's shooting percentage from 2 ft better be higher than 38%. That would even further prove my point on him. And if EO does happen to become a player down low, teams are just going to foul him and he's gonna brick 2 free throws.

You said he's gonna drop 18 points on somebody, not me. 1 game down. 2 more realistic chances ahead of him, starting Saturday. I'd be ecstatic if he scored more than he did this past game.

I agree it is entertaining seeing them go back and forth. Mainly because DistrictBaller has stayed pretty civil when responding. Most of cold's puppets (bluebird fans) just explode and go crazy LOL. Kudos to DistrictBaller for giving it right back to Cold. This one has been a pretty good debate!

EO will be a nice role player. I predict that at some point, in the next month, Early will replace EO in the starting lineup. It'll be Carl Hall, Early, and Armstead for sure. The wings will be a combo (two) of D Will, Baker, or Wessell.
