What do you think about having Baker's rating based on the number of games he and WSU had played at the time of his injury? He has dropped almost 100 points due to no fault of his own on the court.

Edit: Probably Hall, EO, and White's rating should also not reflect games missed due to injury.

You could do that, but you have to consider how they are helping the team in all games, not just in games they've played in. As has been said before, the Prouty Rating shows how a player is doing compared to other players on the team. So with the injuries, a player's rating is going to go down more when not playing compared to those who are playing.

May I play this out a little further?

I look at a rating, any rating, as a measurement of worth of a player to his team. If a player is not in a game long or doesn't play at all, that is a coach's decision. Right or wrong, the coach feels his "worth" to the team does not warrant more playing time. Therefore, it is not unfair to hold that player's lack of playing time against his "worth".

However, when one looks at the rating on, say Baker, it doesn't really show his worth to the team when he plays. One looks at the Prouty and it says Baker is one of the least valuable players on the team. On the other hand, without the penalty due to injury, his rating would have him as one of the top 5 players.

Yes, I understand that by lowering his rating due to injury, one could say that because he is not playing, he is hurting the team just as if he wasn't playing well. It also, however, does not indicate the value of that player to his team if he could have been playing. In other words, in my approach, a person looks at the rating and sees behind that rating that Hall has missed 8 games and Baker whatever bigger # that is and goes, "Wow, they're missing or missed a valuable player while he was out". Not so much so the other way.

Yeah, I see where you're going with this. I guess I could just leave their overall rating to what it was when they got injured and maybe set it to a different color indicating injury. I'm not sure how I want to do it when they return (e.g. in the case of Hall). I think I have to use all the games in the calculations, even the ones they missed. I'll have to think about it.
