How should WSU NIL “Cash Funds” be managed?

I believe they should create a managed endowment, with a certain amount of earnings spent each year.
Seems, to me you have to be looking long term.

(I don't really think my opinion should be heard or counted, as I hate NIL, but I can't keep my mouth shut so.....)


NIL is likely going to change a ton in the immediate future. Planning long term seems like a waste. Still, it should be treated like a business.

It should be used mostly for retention.

It should be used mostly for now. Saving money for the future may never pay off. If you can make a difference this year, do it.

None of it should be used for incoming players outside men's basketball, period.

Somebody has to figure out how we get every student athlete $5980 of Alston Funds. I have zero idea, but I'd bet an arm USF isn't raising extra athletic funds for it. I suspect it's being funded through their endowment, somehow. If my math is accurate, that would be about 1.2 mil a year for us. Partitioning off $25M of endowment money should fund that for the foreseeable future.

The nice thing about Alston awards, if I understand it correctly, is they the School has total flexibility in how those are paid out with the ability to defer all or a portion of the annual awards until graduation.

Let's go ahead and spend every nickel on recruiting, facilities, nutrition, educational resources and staff.

We can also set up a robust student athlete consulting service, teaching each pupil how they can market their "name, imagine, and likeness" effectively. They can learn how to sign up for Only Fans, how to position their legs to show just enough, but not too much; what constitutes prostitution (illegal in some states), and what's just good ol' American porn.

I think we could also set up a - totally legit - Shocker Escort Service. We could have VIP entrances to the locker rooms, maybe peep holes for shy contributors in the adjacent room. Just spit-balling here.
