I have not even looked at the "White Guy" thread but I have read posts on other boards mocking WSU because of it. I find the idea of such a thread offensive. Do we care about the color of a person's skin or about the team for whom they play? Would you root for Douggie (white guy for Creighton) or Carl Hall (a true Shocker)? In my book, being a Shocker is all that matters. I hope the admins of SN remove both this thread and the "other" thread.

Lighten up Spanglerfan! Nothing on that thread was intended to be racial! When Tiger Woods was hot people were scrambeling to remember another famous black golfer. Don't worry about it! Other people on the thread understood it was just good clean sports trivia and probably chuckled and smiled as they replied with thier thoughts of past players..

I thought it was funny because white guys are generally less athletic and all. If you made a list of the 25 best ball players in shocker history since 1970, the list will be dominated by black guys. That's just the way it is. There is no sugar coating it, there is no racism, that's just how it is.
So lax took the minority and made a thread about them, because a great white guy is more rare than a great black guy.

I feel deja vu to a thread about graham hatch, where this same thing happened and somebody cried racism.

I will partly in jest give it a go:

Hall > EO/Lufile
Early - part-time starter at 4, will play a little 3; Wiggins - start at 3
Enough time to lead the team in ewwww's & wow's
Williams starts at the 2, with Baker getting reasonable time as our sniper/sharpshooter...Cotton will play some at 3 positions

I do.. I do a lot. Black athletes as a general rule jump higher and are quicker. If you hear that WSU signed a 6'9" PF, but the details of his race aren't given, you are hoping he is black. If you are hoping he is white, you are racist, ignorant, or both.

Just take a look at the "all white team" thread. Our best starting five white players against our best starting five black, would be like playing boys vs girls. Ooops! Was I insensitive again by marginalizing girl basketball players? :moody:

Last year I heard a bunch of great reports about Ron Baker's preseason play. I didn't know who the kid was, but based on his name and the excitement on here, I assumed he was black. Once I discovered he was white, my heart kind of sank. After seeing him play my heart lifted a little because he was well built and seemed to come from similar cloth as Stormin' Mormon. We will see if he can duplicate Graham's role.
