I have to say I really don't get the obsession with who the starting lineup will be. It looks to me like the strength of this team will be its quality depth. If that's the case who the starting 5 happens to be is not that important.

A lot of who starts may depend on what 3G wants to bring to bear early in the game. Offense, defense or a little of both or maybe what match-ups he thinks he can exploit.

If winning the opening tip is important to 3G, and I don't know if it is or not, then you could easily see EO in the starting lineup. He won't lose many of those.

Completely agree. Marshall messes with the starting 5 and lineups on a game by game basis. So many situations where the lineups will change.

Also, I highly doubt that anyone other than EO start at Center simply because EO is an automatic win on the tip-off.

Not much showboating or wild shooting, so that's a big plus considering all the new faces. Can't really say anyone stuck out as being a guy that will ride a lot of pine this year. We have a deep and talented group of guys to work with.
Did Coleby ever pass the ball?

Incorrect. He got abused by the refs. 8pts, 4 fouls, in 13 minutes in Omaha'ha. The hilarious thing is that Cy' only got 16 pts in that game and he was playing mostly without Stutz on the floor. He should have put up 30.

Fortunately I didn't have to witness that.

My biggest take-away from Shocker Madness was how good these players look in their uniforms. I mean, every line-up combination has some tall, strong men who will take the floor. It looks like the Shocks are replacing good 6'3"-6'5" players with 6'7"-6'9" athletes across the board. As soon as the offense is learned and the roles are defined, this team will pose a tough challenge for every team in the Valley and post season.

I hope this was in jest. There are few things more unimportant than winning the opening tip. That, however would be the only reason EO gets the start.

I think kai is saying EO would not.be the starter solely because he can get the tip.

A coach might decide to start the game with a defensive lineup playing helter-skelter excruciating defense against the opponent's starting five in an effort to wear them down and then counter in 3-4 minutes with the offensive team to take advantage of a fatigued defense. Just think of what Early and Baker and even Green could do with fresh legs agsainst a fatigued defenive effort.

That is what I was trying to say, didn't come out that way.

Are you being purposefully ignorant or is it by accident? You need to get off the crazy train man.. you are headed down the wrong track.

                        This^^^^^

Another option is to start with the bangers, and then put the race horses in the game after a few minutes. Somebody gets to poay gainst the opponents' second front court unit. In the valley, that's not much.

                        • If Green doesn't redshirt, there will be players quitting the team. There simply is not enough playing time.

                          • The good news is that we have 13 eligible bodies and 13 extremely talented players. I see minutes fluctuating based on match-ups. It might be a great idea to put a strong athletic Wessel on Colt Ryan to fight through screens and Hall and White on whatever undersized center Evansville puts on the court. Versus Drake, however, Early might get the assignment against Simons and Wessel may not see any time, meanwhile Lufile and Orukpe might bang against Clark and VanDeest and White might be riding pine. OTOH, maybe Orukpe just posterizes UEs center all game long and White draws Drake's Clark out to the arc on defense making him totally ineffective.

The possibilities are endless! Can't wait for play to start up!!!

What is your problem with EO? EO is looking pretty good! He should start and probably will. Winning the opening tip is not insignificant. One possession often is the difference in many games. Kai... is absolutely right in that it is not the starters that matter all that much. IMHO...EO will get 15-20 per game. Why? Carl still has a health problem and will not play over 25, Carl has developed a 15' game, Lufile is still learning, White is not a 5 and we will want him on the wing... a lot, Coleby is RedShirting, Stutz did not RS, EO is 7'0" and not slow. I will think of several others as time goes on but you just need to stop bad mouthing EO for the good of our Shockers and EO's growing confidence.

BTW... Don't like your spine angle at all. Looks like a big cut based on the ball flight and alignment of your feet but that could be just bad optics. Don't think you will ever make the starting line up even if you can hit it 350. Might be good for a scramble tho. OTOH...you appear to be on balance. Wait, is this you in the photo?

How does confidence affect your golf game?

                              • I really hope EO and Carl play at the same time. Other teams won't be able to cheat off of either player and these guys are really hard to stop one on one. We have sooo many options I at the 1 through 3 that I just don't see why we wouldn't just run other teams up and down the floor?
