Allen Fieldhouse is extremely overrated, imo. Been once last year for Houston @ KU (threw away the Houston shirt afterwards, don't worry) and although it was EXTREMELY loud when they did pregame stuff (and made being loud a focal point) the crowd never really got into the game other than that.

My greatest wish is that one day we get a chance to go in there and kick their ass in their "precious cathedral".

It's ok if you feel that way... I'm by no means a fan but to say it's overrated is to ignore the obvious... for one things, the refs call a different game there?

I have been to AFH twice. I saw a game against Colorado about 20 years ago. KU was in control of the game so the crowd was pretty tame and expectant. I also saw Mark’s first game there as A&M’s coach. It was a Big Monday game, so I expected a big-time atmosphere. And for the most part, it was. But KU jumped to a big lead and kinda ran away with it. So the competitive phase of the game was rather short, making the atmosphere a little dull.

I despise the Beakers as much as anyone here, but for basketball fan purposes, it would be interesting to see a game there that is in crunch time with the game in the balance.

The one time I might have been able to stomach rooting for KU was when TP played for West Virginia. That douche hole deserves every effing bad possible thing that could happen to him.

I was in AFH for a game against aTm that was tight wire to wire and I was never impressed with the volume. Pretty sure KU ended up winning but it wasn't easy.

That was my only trip to AFH as well. March 6, 1964. I was midway through my 14th trip around the sun. That game was a playoff for the MVC Championship and was the final year of Ralph Miller's tenure. Here is the story of that year.

Beginning in 1963-64, it was the Shockers’ turn to be lead dog, and Stallworth and company surged to a 23-6 regular season mark and that elusive first NCAA Tournament bid.

That December, WU blew through the field at the All-College Classic in Oklahoma City, winning all three games by an average of 24 points. A month later, they were back in the AP Top-10. During a 6-0 start to MVC play, the Shockers also managed to work in a home-and-home non-conference sweep of top-10 Loyola, to run their winning streak to a season-high 11 games. However a disastrous road trip followed in early February with back-to-back losses at Bradley and Drake, and the Shockers needed overtime to salvage the finale at Cincinnati. The team regrouped in the days ahead, closing out the regular season with four-straight wins but still found themselves in a first-place tie with Drake.

Having split the season series, the teams traveled to Lawrence, Kan. for a one-game neutral site playoff at Allen Fieldhouse. Guard Ernie Moore scored 19 points to lead the Shockers to a 58-50 victory and its first title since joining the MVC nearly two decades prior. The win also punched a ticket to the Big Dance, but Moore was unable to participate. Though allowed to compete by the MVC in the 1964 spring semester, he was unable to gain similar clearance from the NCAA, robbing the Shockers of one of their primary ball-handlers.

WU Fieldhouse played host to the four-team Midwest Regional, and Wichita made short work of Creighton in the semifinal, winning 84-68, but a disappointing 94-86 loss to Kansas State in the final denied the Shockers of a spot in the Final Four.

More bad news followed as Miller (who played for Phog Allen at KU and was WSU’s all-time coaching wins leader with 220 wins until surpassed by Gregg Marshall) opted to move on to Iowa.

K-State's star player that year was a 6-6 Sr. F Willie Murrell who averaged 22.3 PPG. Their 2nd leading scorer was 7-0 Sr. C Roger Suttner at 12.9 PPG.

The way we’ve played average to above average teams, I’m going to predict an 8 point loss to KSU. We keep it close throughout and it slips away at the end. I think Memphis beats us by 10+. Other than that, we should be able to beat a good number of the other AAC teams. Will they though? Idk

Don't let the loss to Drake fool anyone (except the resident mongoloid, of course). K-State is a decent team who played a good St. Johns team at their gym and did pretty well. It could get ugly against K-State.
