I did not watch, listen or follow the game. I will watch the replay tonight. But just looking at the box score I am assuming that this was a defense is optional game, or maybe a defense is discouraged game, because no way will legs last in this tournament format if a team has to play defense in these first 2 rounds.

Although seeing the Shockers with 5 guys in double figures and 2 others with 8 points was pretty impressive as well as the Shocks having 22 assists and only 6 turnovers. OTOH, see my initial comment.

Memphis is capable of playing poorly against every other team in the conference other than Wichita State.

We don't have anyone capable of stopping Jones but we make up for it by having no one that can score against Quinn Early.

On the plus side, you aren't going to win many games where the other team shoots 53% 50% 74%.

Kudos to Cortes and DeGray for their contributions on offense today.

And have to give it up for Rogers. Over the last four games, he's averaging 26.25 pts and shooting 62% from 3FG (23 of 37).

I know most on here don't like the way XB plays. He was the best defender on Evee other than the foul on the 3 pointer. Cortes, and Colby struggled defensively. XB had 6 assists and 1 turnover. He does a lot of things well. Passing during a fast break not being one of them.

HCPM called a nice play to get Colby an open 3 pointer on the sideline late in the game after a timeout. It was good to see the Shocks execute it.

You are right. XB's positive contributions often get overshadowed by his mistakes. They just seem to be at the worst times, or look exceptionally bad.

That stat both makes me happy... That we can run offense like that... And sad... That we needed a record breaking half of shooting the basketball in order to squeak by freaking Rice.
