  • All college basketball transfers must be in portal by May 1
New transfer legislation passed last week by the NCAA has added a sense of urgency to the looming close of the men's and women's basketball transfer windows.

"New transfer legislation passed last week by the NCAA has added a sense of urgency to the looming close of the men's and women's transfer windows, as all transfers now need to be in the portal by the close of their sports' transfer windows. Previously, graduate transfers didn't need to adhere to transfer window dates and could enter the portal at any time...

Last week's transfer legislation, however, eliminated the graduate transfer exception. "Student-athletes who plan to enroll as graduate students at their next school can enter the portal at any time during the academic year but must enter the portal prior to the conclusion of their respective sports' final transfer windows," the NCAA wrote in a news release.

The new rule applies to all sports....The exception for coaching changes remains in place, which gives players 30 days to enter the portal from the date their coaches left. Most notably, that would apply to players from BYU, since Mark Pope left the Cougars to take over at Kentucky on April 12...."

      • Isn't hearing the NCAA say, "MUST" sound cute?

        Feckless and worthless.

        • uh oh, wonder how our star player Colby Jones feels about not even being listed as a top 3 transfer, let alone a top player on his new team.....

              • This thread and forum generally reflect the complete destruction that has been visited upon college sports. There are some ruins left standing. It’s not Nagasaki where everything is virtually flattened . But it is near total destruction. College Basketball was what is now unseen. The slow building of the team.!The struggle to add wins so you can build pride and add recruits. Then the chance to finish high enough for a bid. Then a bid. Because.we kept the faith. Now every year someone comes around and trashes all your work and steals your tools.

                • The destruction of the TEAM concept, as well, when trying to integrate highly paid players with those getting next to nothing

If the kids want to be pro, they may as well get used to it.

Colby was obviously our best 3 point shooter last Season at .409. However, he was rewarded with 35 mpg which he prolly won't receive at Memphis. He also led the Shocks with 475 fga. which was far more than any other Shocker. Here is a stat that I just saw that was interesting. Colby's regular fg% was .400% which was only 8th of our regular rotation players. Memphis is loading up on guards so there's that.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

                          • Was mentioned in recruiting but scratch one off the list

Kinda depressing feed right now .. full of KU landing another top transfer .. and a player that WSU's coach previously coached and wanted deciding to stay in the Summitt league rather than come here

                            • Maybe Coach Drew can throw his buddies Coach Mills and Coach Acy a bone and direct this kid here.

Another former Oral Roberts player I liked was 7'5" Connor Vanover with Missouri who scored 11 against us in just 16 minutes in a 10 point Shocker loss.
