And on the Detroit thing. It worries me that he said this. I remember last year they started predicting the match ups and they seemed to come to fruition. I heard them talking after the Gonzaga game about St. Mary's would get Creighton. If CU has the best road RPI, they should get the best home RPI available (Not WSU). That would be Belmont, right? ESPN is just gonna make matchups that they think will be good for TV this time. They know it is over and they don't care. HCGM doesn't recruit Detroit. Of course he doesn't recruit the Dakotas. SFA would be the only recruiting spot that looks like a potential matchup.
WSU is taking it in the shorts this year on this event. It will not be good for us. Period.

By the way, what's with Katz's Belmont/Denver matchup. If I was Belmont, I'd be really po'd.

IF Katz's predictions are right, this is just ESPN waiving a giant middle finger in the participants' faces. SMC-Creighton won't draw enough additional viewers to make any real difference compared to Creighton-Belmont. Nobody in CA gives a flying flip about the Gaels, as evidenced by their average attendance of ~3,000. They are about as hot a commodity in the Bay area as Fordham is in NYC. It's a ratings push.
Regarding WSU, our options are so awful that it won't really make a difference whether we draw SDSU, Detroit, SFA or some other uggo with an RPI around 70. None of them are sneaking into the top 50 without going undefeated and sweeping their conference tournaments (and even that may not be enough). I guess I'd take Detroit because McCallum is only a junior and the Titans have just two seniors, meaning they will be a better return game next year than SDSU (Wolters is a senior).
What a dung heap.

What is SFA's roster like? If their RPI is comparable they're at least in a recruiting area. That's one reason Davidson was ok....Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan
