As expected in any case, UE's AD denies the report.

The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

Hopefully he's sandbagging in anticipation of their stealth drop to D-II.

Depaul and Marquette aren't leaving the Big East for the MVC. Don't be silly.
It would be worth a shot. Thinking your never going to land a big fish so why bother throwing out a line is very petty. I suppose you would be upset if McD would never recruit above a three star because he thinks those players would never play for a midmajor. I guarantee you all of the top players have had a visit or a letter from McD and Marshall. Its because they never settle. Elgin will settle. Which is what I said from the beginning.

          If true:

1: Let me help you pack.

2: The replacement school better be an upgrade to the Purple Pimps or Elgin needs to go.

WSU & SWOMO might like a Texas school or something similar. Everybody else would rather have DePaul, etc

It isn't even close to being the same thing.

I'm not against him calling, but getting them to move will NEVER happen.

Those schools have literally MILLIONS of reasons to stay in the Big East! There is no way on this earth that the MVC can match the financial package the Big East offers. Zero. Zilch. Nada.

As to Butler, they are in the league both of us want to be in right now. They walked away from a ton of NCAA tourney credit money that they earned for the Horizon just to make that move. Why the heck would they step down to come to the MVC? Can you provide one single legitimate reason?

That is bush league John. I had two really good sources that I trust implicitly tell me that we were going to the CUSA. One was really close to a high level MSU administrator and the other was himself a high ranking OVC dignitary.

Switching to the topic at hand I would be sad if we lost E'ville. I am not entirely familiar with the history of the Valley but I believe that they have been around for a good while. The names I am hearing as replacements are a little bit farsical: Marquette? Seriously. None of us want Saint Louis U for obvious reasons. I really like Belmont as a potential team and I think they could be paired with their Nashville rival Lipscomb. Would really help MVC exposure in the Southeastern US.

Its not about "if you call, they will come", it's about "look at me! Im actually trying to make this conference better!"
All I ask is that he pursues some bigger better schools instead of looking for someone to elevate. It is better to elevate yourself into higher company than to drag 3-4 schools up to your level.

Honestly, having a guy call Big East schools and beg them to come to the Valley does not make that guy look better in my eyes. In fact, I might tend to think worse about him because it would appear pretty obvious that he's friggin' clueless and out of touch with reality.

There is a difference between working hard and working smart. The commish could work his a$$ off calling BCS conference schools and begging them to move 20 hours a day for six consecutive months, but at the end of those six months, he'll still be looking for that replacement team.

Courtesy call. You are plowing this way out of proportion. Just a courtesy call, just enough to say I tried. Then pursue other schools. All im saying is start at the top and work your way down, don't just dive for the bottom of the barrel.

Are you serious? Pairing Belmont and Lipscomb? Belmont I'm hesitant on as right now they're kind of like a big fish in a little pond. I don't know how much money they have in their athletic department or if they could continue to compete by moving up the the MVC. You can look at Evansville for why I'm nervous about that. Lipscomb? Are you on crack?

Better options than both of those would be New Mexico State and Milwaukee. Larger markets with good basketball history. Other schools that would be worth looking at, much more so than Lipscomb, are Denver, Murray State and Arlington. Lipscomb should never be in the conversation unless you want to make the same damn mistake the Valley did in the past...

There's a lot between the bottom of the barrel and your dream land where it's even worth wasting time trying to get a BE school Hell, why don't we just call up Kansas and ask them? They could be travel partners with Creighton....

the way I read that they "enjoy the mvc" but would leave if opportunity presented itself.
