I like the man but not the coach. The fault is a level above him. Either the AD and the boosters do something or there will be more nights like this and UMKC. Our program has fallen off a cliff. Who is to blame? Please excuse me I have to go throw up what's left now.

I’m not sure an angel donor exists for WSU anymore. Too many have been turned off by university decisions over the past few years…athletic decisions and others. It’s a very sad time on the hilltop. There would have to be some major changes for some of the donors to come back into the fold.

Still highly unlikely that WSU has the money to fire HCPM after this season, but there is nothing stopping ADKS from structuring the next HC's contract to have a very low salary at the beginning and then jump up significantly after the Brown and Marshall buyouts expire (so long as they still get the bigger money in the event of termination).
Something like:
2025-2026: $500,000
2026-2027: $1,500,000 (Brown and Marshall buyouts end in April and November 2026)
2027-2028: $2,000,000
Of course, you would need to find a candidate that is agreeable to such a structure and likely to warrant the higher salary figure on the backend of the deal, but it's not impossible with some contract creativity.

I think barring someone stepping up with big money, no coach worth moving on is going to take a paycut to step into this mess, even if its a temporary paycut. Not waiting a year to fire fHCIB and actually lining up a home run candidate likely will be ADKS's downfall. The next hire HAS to be a home run candidate.

I’m not sure how much quality coaching even matters anymore, You have to be able to constantly bring in new talent, that’s the name of the game. You have to be good enough to figure out how to mesh new players year over year. Old school coaches that depended on developing young guys are leaving the game. We’re still figuring out which coaches can do this, especially at schools with NIL deficiencies.
