Really is. It’s kind of sad, I have to fake a British accent unless I want everybody and their son asking me what an American is doing in bloody Birmingham, the pothole of the UK. Fortunately I’ve gotten passable haha

      • But, the guys calling the game last night kept saying Mills is a great coach.

He's great for ECU. For the first time ever, they've owned us. I would assume they hope he stays forever.

          • Just a hypothetical. Is Paul Mills basically Scott Thompson? The similarities between the two coaches, the coachspeak, the mannerisms, and player/personnel issues are eerily similar. We were here back then, attending games. I mean Scott T. was supposed to be a good coach. It's what fans were led to believe. Same with PM. Just very strange. And there is a reason why this next saying is not just a meme (and there are thousands and thousands of examples that can be posted of this), it's a guaranteed fact of life in the world of coaching (and parenting to a degree)...

It's funny how quickly we pick up on specific words and pronunciation just to blend in with the locals (even without doing it on purpose). I spent four months working in Marseille, France and the biggest compliment my coworkers gave me when I left was that my Canadian French accent wasn't very noticeable lol

It's called "John Wayne Toilet Paper" . It's rough, it's tough, and doesn't take crap off anybody.

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing, but that's an interesting comparison.

                      • I'm a bit scared to know how many non-D1 games we will have next year. His last 4 years at ORU he had 3 or 4 every year. That combined with us getting the "easy" conference schedule is going to make for a truly awful home schedule.

And a potentially inflated record that doesn't give us an accurate idea if there's any improvement.

                          • I see so many parallels to the coaching fiasco that Nebraska football went through. Bad AD's making bad decisions and having to settle for bad coaches. My reaction when I heard about Mills' hire was, "Who?" I was expecting a name that at least a few people had heard of, but since that didn't happen I expected maybe an unknown young aggressive coach looking for an opportunity to build something and make a name for himself. Paul Mills is WSU's Mike Riley (Smilin' Mike, the nicest man in football), and the sooner the Powers that Be admit it and move on the better off they'll be. It won't happen now, but it should. You can talk all you like about getting rid of players and upgrading the roster, but tell me: what have we got to show any good player why they should come here?

                            • PT and that's it. For the season we have 289 assists vs 314 turnovers. Opponents are 353 - 259. Our record reflects it.

                              • Given WSU's current financial predicament, wouldn't it be more productive for ShocketNet to collectively invest in some lottery tickets?
