Marshall could have had Shaq leave permanently, but he didn't. As a senior, before the first tournament game, Shaq, after being asked by a reporter, said that he was good with Marshall and hoped Marshall felt the same about him.

I believe that Shaq so respected his mother, that he honored her wishes, even after her death. Marshall, too, had honored Shaq's mother's wishes, after her passing to not kick him off the team. It wasn't until years later after things just continued to not work out for that Shaq that he gave Mushmouth an interview and the rest is history.
I believe we sometimes overlook the elephant in the room. As I recall TP was reporting things like "Wait, there's more coming" well before word of ******* interviewing Shaq occurred. I think TP was working ******* and Shaq and probably arranged (or at least assisted in arranging) that interview.

TP and ******* both had a case of a$$ against Marshall. I believe Shaq was the pawn they used to bring Marshall down.

An incompetent AD let the situation get to the point where a single PO'd player could bring the program to its knees. I don't believe Shaq had the 'nads to come forward without being pushed there.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

Where did I remotely say that? To the contrary the roster sucks. There's some pieces but overall over half the players aren't AAC talent. That is all on Mills to fix pronto.

What did I expect? At least one competent PG for starters. A much better A/TO team. That area is just atrocious. Better than 10th place. I don't think any of this is too much to ask.

      I didn't expect a throwaway season.

But that doesn't follow extremes thinking!

If you are unhappy with being almost in last place you MUST have expected us to go undefeated and win the AAC!

If you are unhappy with Mills it MUST mean you are an IB Lover

That last one is the one that cracks me up. While I haven't been directly called an IB lover, I don't think, others who have had similar views on Mills have been. And I was very vocal from the time IB was hired that I wasn't a fan of the move and I'm pretty sure I'm very on record as to saying he wasn't the answer and needed to be gone as soon as WSU could make it work. The problem is, I'm not sure WSU really made it work.

I'd have to go back and look, but I thought this team was a lower mid level team this year. We've been worse than that and the product was much worse than I expected to watch game after game. But dang it, we look mighty OK against the lower half of D1 teams.

It is absolutely BAFFLING to me that you could spell out all of these details without once acknowledging that Gregg tried to physically assault him post-practice. And that some of the most RESPECTED athletes we've had come through this program have called it unacceptable and begged him to own up to it publicly. Even if Shaq's mom said "Hey Gregg, give him some REAL tough love and feel free to hit him", that certainly doesn't make it okay. And then to cloud it all by saying "Gregg was honoring his dead mothers wishes"....holy **** dude.

First, I try to keep emotions out of it. I gave the known facts.

I never said Marshall was a choir boy. He wasn't. Other players only knew what they actually saw, in this case, and in others. It is my understanding that at least most, if not all, of the players saw Shaq's take down on the court of a fellow teammate that could have injured that teammate. I have not read that any of the players actually saw what happened in the tunnel after Shaq walked off pissed with Mashall following him. They only know what Shaq told them. Shaq is an ox of a man. If Shaq lied to the press, he could just as easily had lied to his teammates to gain favor. Not saying he did, just that it is possible given what is known.

As far as the last statement, nothing cloudy about it. Shaq's mother did not want her son to leave WSU and Marshall. Both Shaq and Marshall knew that, and both lived up to those wishes. Many on this board thought that Shaq should have been suspended, or worse, let go, before and/or at the time he lowered the boom on his teammate. He wasn't. Simple as that. You are free to interpret as you wish. For the record, I do think that Marshall should have owned up to it.

Lastly, everyone is entitled to their own definition of assault. Legally, it can be from intentional physical injury to another to unwittingly using a person's wrong pronoun.

Add: What Shaq did to his teammate was also assault.

Shaq's professional playing career (which never amounted to anything) was quickly coming to an end and he was quickly becoming irrelevant. He saw $, relevancy, and a chance to act out his vindictiveness and D o u c h e man was the vehicle to help him do that.

                • Getting back on track here....

The number of jobs that are already open or are likely to open this off-season is pretty high. I'm just glad we're not shopping this year, I guess.

                  Open/Going to Open:
                  • DePaul
                  • Ohio State
                  • Louisville
                  • West Virginia
                  • Stanford

                  Rumors/Very Hot Seats:
                  • Michigan
                  • Indiana
                  • Washington

                  • When is Isaac Brown going to get back into coaching? I cannot believe someone like him would hang it up over a couple years salary. The longer he sits out, the more stale his resume gets.

Knowing nothing of his motivations I could see him popping up at a Sunbelt/CAA/CUSA school next season.

From what I've heard, he is enjoying the free money. I wouldn't expect him to start looking for a job until his payments are about up. Is that next spring or does he have two more years?

When the time comes, I'd could see him landing in a southern based league. Maybe the Belt, but CUSA is probably his best option unless he goes lower.

I'm guessing his stock will rise considerably after we blaze through the AAC tournament next week.

seems odd for coaches of this caliber to be fine sitting out of they don't have to. IB gets paid regardless if he's coaching or not. I believe the payout is partially offset by his new salary if he takes a job.
