Paul Mills Not Hot Seat

So far HCPM is not an upgrade at all from a results standpoint. That's not really deniable. We are less relevant than we've ever been. The best moment of HCPMs WSU tenure has been Evansvilling Memphis in the AAC tourney.

That said, I'm not sure why we are talking like the only options were keeping Brown forever or going with Mills. Mills looks to be a bad hire. That doesn't mean keeping Brown was the right choice. The thing that made the most sense was keeping Brown until we had a home run hire we could afford. Not just firing and hoping it all works out.

There are/were better options than Mills. If the bar was set at just being better than Brown, well I guess we nailed it but what kinda bar are we setting?

He doesn’t win big games in the regular season. He doesn’t run an offense. He doesn’t run a defense. He’s boring. His ceiling will be the first round of the NIT.

Thats fine that he’s better than Brown. But after the previous athletic department fiascos, you’re gonna have to win first and be exciting if you want dollars and fans back. The other way around does and will not come first. Sorry.

Like I said, being able to attract better options sailed with AD Retard. This is the valley of the shadow of basketball death that we have to walk through. Once we are done monetarily paying for the decisions of Boatright, THEN the race is on.

I’m enjoying a coach that stands instead of sits and who recruits players that can spell and want to be here, even if they irritate the hell out of me when the my make bone head decisions (Bell). It’s easy to take it out of perspective, but we were headed to basketball irrelevance with brown and with butch on staff guys like Jaykwon would have been annual.

Anyone pointing to Browns success should recognize the fumes of Marshall’s influence. Brown was tanking it quickly.

My secondary concern is that the AD who hired Mills will likely be hiring the replacement. The perceived red flags when Mills was hired appear to have been justified:

1) Didn't show he could beat good teams with any frequency.
2) Only found success with Max Abmas as his PG.
3) Never had a good defense, something that is engrained in WSU basketball DNA.

But, but, what about the Larryville Cheatin' Hairpiece's effusive praise over the Mills hire? That's gotta cancel out a few of those red flags right?...

We are 100% worse. You have a hatred for brown (which is at least partially justified) that is clouding reality. Brown wasn't the answer but what we have gotten under Mills is worse
