He definitely has plenty of games where he is a non factor. That said, he has plenty of games where he looks like a legit big man. Without an offensive system, he definitely cannot thrive though.

lol of course there’s an IB apologist out there.

And of course it’s this guy.

          • The problem for coach is the three guys who can pass it (Cortes, Beverly, Pohto) can't shoot it. This team needs spacing (especially Pohto) for them to operate effectively. Goes without saying adding 1 or 2 more guys to the incoming class will not be enough to fix the personnel issues next season.

Well said, Pohto was left wide open from 15' a couple of games back and didn't have the confidence to take the shot. Outside of Rogers no one on the team is a 3pt threat.

Western Kentucky missed a lot of wide-open threes when we played them.

This is why Pohto should spend more time in both the high and low post areas. He's done a good job at seeing openings and passing lanes when put in a position to do so. Though it also helps if you have guys not just standing around doing nothing when he gets the ball. Some of the times he forces things is because nobody gives him any other options.

Most of the early games were the same way. The teams that throttled us were the ones that could hit those wide open 3s. We've not guarded the 3 pt line well at all this year.

                    • Does HCPM have the stones to give some of his non-AAC players a firm handshake at the end of the season? I unfortunately don't see it happening...

Eric Konkol at Tulsa basically told the entire roster to get lost (I'm sure many left willingly as well) and they are much, much improved this season.

We saw a similar pass to this last night ...

Was it Rogers that got dinged on the head by Beverly? I don't remember who was involved.

While that is true. We didn't have as big of "talent" problem here at WSU as many tried to portray it. GM and Chris Jans were superb at finding superior talent, frequently talent that had been overlooked by others. My hope is that Coach Mills and his staff will be able to do the same thing. He did pretty well with that at ORU.

                          • Are you referring to Degray's pass on the fast break attempt?

About that, I thought we heard this off-season that the coaching staff had fast break spacing down to a science? When have we seen evidence of that this season? DeGray dribbled the ball directly into traffic and then attempted a pass to someone five feet away from him who wasn't even looking.

Last night I watched pretty closely. We are not good at making uncontested pre-game shots. Now add a 6'7" freak athlete coming at you with arms raised. CR is our only option. Period. That is a huge problem.
We were saying the same thing last night. Shoot around before the game, our seats give us a pretty good look. At one point, nearly a minute of balls clanking off the rim.

                                yes, we noticed.
