I see Jake as being much improved from his Freshman year. He needs to add about 15 pounds, so he can bang a little for rebounds. I think his shooting will be much better, and like it has been said, he can drain the 3.

I think white could put up Wilson-like numbers if he had the same level of coppetition on the squad that Wilson had. When Wilson was here, we were doing good to have 3 serviceable guys taller than 6'6" suited up and ready to play.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

As a junior, Wilson (with a weaker team, according to your comments) went to the Sweet 16. Do you see White (with a stronger team) doing the same?

PS: The X-man faced some tough competition when he got here. Did he let that stop him? (It sounds like you are making excuses for Jake White.)

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

You must have watched a lot of practice least year and pick up this year to compare his shooting. Any other inside info?

It's a minutes thing. Wilson was the best/one of the best players on a not very deep sweet 16 team. Jake White is direcly competing against stronger competition than Ryan Martin and Phillip Thomasson and Jake is not X-Man.

I have seen/heard very similar reports about Mitchell. My understanding is that Mitchell would have been the back-up PG last year had he been eligible.

                Maybe.

Kyle Wilson could not rebound even a lick.

Jake can rebound. Last year, it was his strongest suit.

In his freshman season, Jake snagged 16.2% of the rebounds available to him; compared to team leader Stutz at 20.0% and Orukpe at 59.9%.Some of those rebounds Jake secured were sensational one-hand grabswhile fighting off opponents with the other arm. He can hold his own on the boards; now he needs to develop Carl Hall type strength to just leap right toward the basket and muscle it in.

I wouldn't say Kyle was a bad rebounder. He was average for his size...5.5 RPGs in his final two seasons. Jake is a much better rebounder than Kyle, but they have similar size and are both inside/outside players. Jake will be very good, but last year he was a step slow. Improvement on that will go a long way in getting him minutes.

Those numbers must be 16.2% of Shocker rebounds, right? (i.e. not of all rebounds, some of which going to the other team). Either way EO's percentage is sick!

That would 16.2% of all missed shots while he was in the game. I believe EOs numbers were a text error...probably more like 19.9%.

Where does one find these rebounding stats?

Not sure if @im4wsu: does this or not, but if you use the reb/40 min of the player and divide that by the average total rebounds in a game (69.5 last season) you can get a pretty good idea.

I am hoping that the amount of effort put in to improving his game is equal to his total improvement on the floor because nobody works harder than Jake. He lives in the gym. If the rest of the guys are working as hard as Jake, we'll be fine.
