Yeah, what he said, because last year's team was so unprepared and soft it was sickening and at 27-6 was one of the worst and least entertaining team of the last 30 years. Add to that soft 4 year players that dedicated their careers to WSU like Garrett Stutz and Toure Murry who consistently embarrassed themselves and the University, didn't graduate and will do nothing in their lives going forward, and I can see where you'd be disappointed in your row 7 seats in person.

An honest evaluation of one particular game is not a condemnation of a person's career, his contribution to the program or himself. In that particular game, WSU played soft in the first half. This might be on Marshall's shoulders rather than on the players; who knows?
Some posts are not visible to me. :peaceful:
Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

I'm sure not a basketball coach, so I don't know if it would work for us. But, I'd love to see us try to press just about the whole game and run the heck out of the ball. We have the numbers to do it.

More David K. in that game and WSU wins pulling away. That game was meant for him....

It might be on the key lime pie they had for lunch...

I'll tell you one thing; the coaches, players (especially "The Beast") wanted that game more than anything. Last year's Shockers fully expected to do something special. Even the media expected great things out of us in the dance (although they did warn that VCU might upset us).

I certainly don't want to think about the last game of last year. I want to discuss the future and all the studs rolling onto campus.

            Jake White:

Wow, that boy sure is going to get tested in practice with all these jumping jacks filling the squad. He will most likely be pushed to be his best and, I assume, develop a couple nifty post moves that minimize his chance of getting blocked. Lord knows he's going to need it in practice.

I propose that WSU will lead the league in fewest blocked shots by opponents this year. Having to run through WSU's gauntlet of big men everyday in practice is going to finely tune our slashers (as well as post men) to take well protected shots.

I don't remember what he did against VCU- that game is a blank to me. But he played very well against Ill St.- MVC semi-finals.

I said last year at the end of the season that unless we replaced Stutz with a solid Center, we would have to play small, and play quick, similar to the Havoc D that VCU runs. They upped their press and defensive mindset last year, due to some of the same circumstances we're going to be facing this year.

                  Completely co-sign your suggestion, Trop.

Its either you do or you don't! Might be a great idea with this group.

I see EO fully capable of playing a pressing and running game. In fact, he would make a great goalie on the full court press.

I'm sure HCGM considers the excessive use of a press and/or zone fairly gay.. because it is. Both of those strategies are desperation moves.

Real men play man to man and force turnovers within the flow of the game. Drake used to press all game long because that's all they could do.

Now, if we are getting beat by a superior team, then do whatever you have to, to win. But to make it a policy to always press is ***** as far as I'm concerned. Let 'em get to the basket and then proceed to swat their $#!t into the cheap seats. Then let them try it again...

You have to mix up the press for it to be the most effective.

I believe the scouting on VCU was, don't play their game. Keep it close, let them wear themselves out and outlast them.

While that's hard to watch as a fan, it almost worked. VCU begged us to drive them and we wouldn't leave our motion.

Turn Joe loose to drive on the pressure, and it's a different game.

Oh, and I like Jake White... thought I should bring it back on topic.
