  • Things That Hinge On One Small Event

I have no idea why this struck my brain this morning, but I got to thinking about how Jackie Carmichael's "high karate" kick foul in 2013 unleashed a monstrous chain of events. Had he not done that, and we lost that game to the Dirty Birds, it is very possible or even likely that:
    • we don't make the NCAA in 2013 and thus no Final Four
    • the 2014 season maybe turns out the same way, maybe not
    • without that Final Four, the AAC probably doesn't even give us a sniff, and we would still be in the Valley
    • FHCGM probably doesn't stick around as long and leaves for better opportunities
    • who knows how things turn out if we have a new head coach in say, 2016 or 2017, maybe we have Jans, maybe not, but we would likely still be in the Valley
Even with all the good, bad, and ugly, I'm glad we are now in the AAC, even if it is a much weaker conference than when we joined. I think it is a better fit for us not only athletically, but also in terms of a better fit with universities we are more in common with in general.

Would it be rude to send Jackie Carmichael a thank you Christmas card, perhaps like this one?

Doug Gottlieb did color for the NCAA games in Salt Lake City. I remember that he told Gregg that the game in Normal was the batshit craziest thing he had ever seen in college basketball. “I thought I had seen everything, but after watching that game, now I have seen everything.”

Between that and Darius Carter conking a ref on the head at the opening tip, we have certainly seen some bizarre stuff. I can't remember what game that was.

Craig's line was the best! "Whoa! That'll make you stand up!" Kel certainly had plenty of grown-ass-man dunks!

If you proletariats would upgrade your aluminum foil wrapped aerial antennas and get rid of the static cutting out your viewing experience, then you'd understand quality TV like us bourgeoisie folks.
