Cotton will have a better wsu career than kyles I think. Kyles was a great backup...about as good as you could hope for. Cotton will probably start as a senior though. I didn't realize his offense was that efficient this year. It makes me all the more intrigued by him. I'll be he is more coachable than kyles was. I remember in the beginning coach said kyles didn't always have his head on straight but was our best athlete. Cotton is more like murry than kyles...a guy who could have started as a freshman. It's just that cotton joined a full lineup where murry joined a rebuild in progress

The thing is that we have two true point guards (Armstead and VanVleet), three combo guards (Williams, Mitchell, and Cotton), and one shooting guard (Baker). Two of those guys aren't going to see significant minutes at the one and two. Moving one of them to the three is unlikely with Early and Wiggins looking to eat up most of those minutes, not to mention Wessel and Green who appear to be deep back-ups.Livin the dream

All of that is kind of how I see it being possible that there will be some redshirting that we don't expect. Shockmonster, maybe it won't necessarily be van vleet but its always possible. I think that we have 3 true point guards and one who can play combo guard, Williams. To me that leaves wessel on the bench or redshirted which he should have done last year and take your pick between FVV Mitchell Baker and Cotton as guys who can either share a limited number of minutes or possibly redshirt. Baker can't redshirt because he did already. If its absolutely not possible that it could be van vleet, then its either Mitchell or Cotton. Those are older guys. That was my thinking on it being possible with van vleet. It sure would be awesome to have a freshman so good that he knocks a decorated juco with a years experience out of the lineup and cotton is awfully solid

Hopefully, one of those two situations will work (or a combination of the two).

Based on nothing other than player experience, I would guess we start Armstead and Williams. Cotton Baker and Mitchell would be the likely subs with Williams rotating out for a breather then back in for Armstead at PG. VanVleet is a variable that may or may not be plugged in somewhere depending on where he is at.
