Echenique goes up against Orukpe and/or Hall
McDermott goes against Hall and/or White
Gibbs goes against Early and/or Wiggins, so Early and Wiggins will probably get a lot of fouls, because otherwise it just wouldn't be "even" or "fair"
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

Depending on the lineups, I could see Early on McD. That would scare the crap out of him I think.

            *** LANGUAGE WARNING ***

In a fictional interview with @Kung Wu:, Coach Marshall was asked about Creighton being chosen as the preseason favorite. Marshall smiled and said "I'm just a crazy nastyass honey badger."

Replacing honey badger with Gregg Marshall, and it's pretty hilarious.

                Exactly!

And you know what ... you replace "bird" with "Jayhawk" and it gets even funnier.

Then replace "jackal" with "NCAA selection committee".

And at the end replace "cobra" with "Bluejay".

                LMAO

I think the guy said that was the first time in Valley history that two teams were ranked in both major polls at the same time. I don't know if he's including the UPI poll from pre-'93, or if he's including just the current manifestation of the coaches poll. It's a believable factoid if he's looking at the ESPN coaches poll since '93, but I find it hard to believe the Valley never had two teams in both the AP and the UPI back in its heyday.

If that's the case he shouldn't have phrased it as "in the conferences existence" and should have been since the ESPN Coaches Poll began in 'XX.

His statement is certainly true if he would have said the 1st time two teams who are current members of he MVC were ranked.

WSU should actually take 2nd this Season but we must not rule out 1st (a long shot) or 3rd (naah). Last Season, we were picked 2nd which is what I predicted. While Illinois State was much better than advertised, losing their solid Coach and Nic Moore will leave a mark. Yes, most of their squad returns but we ended way ahead of them last Season. The question becomes, after losing 5 key Shockers, can we get it together and win our fair share of games? With Marshall at the helm, I say yup, yup, yup. You know what may be our ace in the hole? Armstead, Baker, and Mitchell practicing with us all last Season, not to mention a banner class of very talented recruits incoming. U like?
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

The Coaches' Poll began in the 1950-51 season. It has been published, and or sponsored over the years by UP, UPI, USA Today, CNN, NABC, and ESPN. I went thru it quickly. With the exception of one season, the coaches' poll had all of the same MVC teams ranked (albeit not always at the exact same number) in the same seasons as the AP poll.

Oh man. Another great find. You can tell I'm bored and up late when I can pull this thread out of the grave.

I'm seeing some possibility here down the stretch.
