  • We have a FOOTBALL team again. (CLUB LEVEL)

It's back. Wichita State University has a football team. The team is recruiting players, and plans to go after community college graduates.

"They're really strong... some of the local Junior College football teams in the area," says Joshua Wills, President of Wichita State Football.

"If you look at them, the community colleges, three of them are in the top twenty. And a lot of those players don't get picked up by NCAA teams. They don't get scholarships, so they need a four year university to go to."

The team leaders say they have uniforms, cheerleaders and some players ready to go. So the team is looking for recruits right now.

http://www.linkedin.com/pub/joshua-wills/12/66b/758 -- so basically some guy (Joshua Wills) woke up and said "I'm President of Wichita State Football" and then there was a team.

      But not really

I mean, I'm the President of the Wichita State Awesome Forum Posters club team and we will be playing against other club level teams next year. So I guess WSU now has an Awesome Forum Posters team as well!

Josh is a very good guy and a friend of mine. He's intelligent, and will be a good leader for whatever happens with this.

At least he's doing something. Which is more than can be said for the, BRING BACK FOOTBALL NOW WHILE I SIT ON MY ARSE AND DO NOTHING, crowd around here. What the hell are you doing besides bitchin about someone else making an effort?

Anyone have any specific info on this? IE where money comes from? Equipment is expensive. Travel is expensive. Hosting a game is expensive... I know clubs get a stipend of some sort, are they counting on it to go that far? I really like the idea. Just hope something comes from it. Obviously the powers that be don't think real football is feasible/will get the needed support. Let's not prove them right. Yes big difference between a club team and a d1 football team, but they're not expecting to fill Cessna either. I for one won't miss a game. Volunteering to work if need be.

I wouldn't think it would be a problem since we have been told there plenty of support from the community for bringing football back. Should have a nice little nest egg with all those who pledged money to bring wsu football. I don't have the URL but those who pledged money should poney up now since this is the start of what they wanted - unless it was all vain words.

It is put up or shut up time for the bring back football crowd. This is a huge opportunity to prove to he new president and ADES that support for wsu football is just not idle words.

I love that he listed the entire university's employment for the entity he's president of. He's an ambitious little dude, but don't think I'd be trusting the resume this kid hands you four years from now. My guess? This thing never happens.
“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

Getting a club team started at WSU is easy. Most of the funds for the club teams I am familiar with come from the blessing of the director of the Heskett center. Travel is almost always paid for by the players themselves. Equipment can be had inexpensively and through donations. There is no reason they couldn't use Cessna. I don't know Shelley Rich, but the Heskett's former director was one awesome guy.

A club team can be started very inexpensively. There is no reason this can't easily get started, assuming they find a couple of coaches to manage it.

You guys are asking questions that are addressed in the kansas.com article....

Once they get this thing off the ground...I for one would support it with my family's attendance. And monetarily to a point.
