      • Whether we need $4Mill or $7mill, it’s irrelevant unless they can raise $150mill for an endowment. We can’t even raise $2 million right now, we’ll never get to $7 million year over year, it’s too much to ask for this fanbase. It’s fine to try to raise the crumbs from the general population, but we need the big money guys to step up if they have any desire.

        • NIL has turned team success (at least the way most of us define success) into a donor issue more than an administrative issue. WSU is small time with small time donors with egos that aren’t defined by the local sports teams. This is product is what we have voted for with our dollars. Even worse if you didn’t vote.

          • I’m rooting for ADKS. I like the man. I see and respect to hustle and drive to make Shockers Athletics relevant again. That being said, early returns aren’t bring up the same feelings of the glory years. Not that they are bad, but I would definitely qualify them as “mid”.

How much of it is a $$$ constraint? How much is it a lack of being able to attract great candidates? How much of it is not identifying the right hire?

He’ll likely get one more shot at a hire, if the HCPM and HCBG eras don’t go down in flames. It’ll be interesting how the search goes, of all the dead $$$ is off the books that time.

Unfortunately getting those dollars off the books doesn't necessarily mean we have more $$$. It could mean we're not going into the hole each year by the amount of those $$$. Got to get the donors back who made it possible for Marshall to have his $3 mill contract. Even when we had those donors and moved to the AAC, there was real concern that the travel costs would strain the ability of the athletic department to keep its financial head above water.

Wichita probably has more financial loyalty to KU and K State than to WSU. People from Wichita who are in the part of their lives where significant donations are possible are the people who referred to WSU as "Hillside High" when they were choosing a college. Going to WSU wasn't something kids from families with substantial resources did.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

              • I don’t understand. We have somebody in our back yard who’s one of the richest in the world. Is there any reason we’re not having success with him? Was Koch one of the donors who swore to never help Wichita state if we fired Marshall? He’s really the only person I imagine who can pick us up at this point. And Saal has to know how ridiculous of an idea it is to try and get the money we need entirely from the withering fan base.

It’s a near impossible task to fund raise and to drum up support/interest for a team at the same time.

Maybe we need to do something like one of those sad dog or starving children commercials. Have the players shooting shots and layups only to see them all bounce off the backboard while never touching iron. They can trip and stumble enroute to their layups, dribble with two hands on top of the ball at the same time. Show them falling on their butts when guarding against the simplest offensive moves, and last but not least, shed those tears after each failure.

Talent is hard to come by, but I think we just might have the guys for that hahaha

I know, might be a bit unfair, especially after a historic loss in Mens bball…but I would go:
                          Mills: C (was C+)
                          Green: B
                          Nooner: D

                          Thoughts?
The talent disparity in WBB is so large between the top and the bottom that I rarely think about our WBB team because I have little hope we will ever be able to compete. That said, have we gotten worse after the coach that would wear a full green body suit left?

                          Mills: C, maybe C-
                          Green: B, leaning B+
                          Nooner: F
