Wichita State: vs. #3 Houston (02/02/23)

Just re-watched parts of the game. The number of times JP left his feet on defense that lead to a basket for Houston, would have easily factored into a W for the Shox.

Further, could we please overplay the right hand of their two guards next time we play them? They drove right…almost every single time, and it almost always resulted in 2 points.

A couple of little things.

Well prepared game plan by the coaching staff. Team played hard and well for most of the game. CP had an off shooting game and had a couple of poor turnovers. We can’t go 50 percent from the free throw line and expect to beat a team the caliber of Houston. Houston expected to win. We used to have that expectation. Houston made their 3s down the stretch. Tough loss. Team has trended up the last 5 games but we don’t have the wins unfortunately. I expect that IB will be back next year. Just my opinion.

If he is back, then I’ll be canceling my subscription to ESPN+ and my VPN. I know I should be supporting the team regardless, but staying up until 2am to catch games (from the UK) that are coached by IB straight up kills me. I see how it’s possible for him to come back, but I really hope Saal keeps his word that this “this not be tolerated” and fires him after this season. There are ways to do it.

We had a Walton this time last year. His name was RCIV. We lost him.

This Season RC has started 21 of 22 games, easily leads Arkansas in scoring at 17,3 ppg, and 2nd. In steals. Not bad for a 6th man here.

Why is this Sampson's final trip to Koch? We have/had home and home series with OU, OSU, KSU, Missouri, Baylor etc, so why wouldn't that at least be a possibility with Houston? Seems kind of odd to be so certain.

I would not be opposed to home-and-home with a few other long-time MVC foes like Bradley, Drake, maybe even Illinois State.

I’m not opposed to replacing the coach but I don’t think it happens this year. I have been a supporter of IB in the past and I certainly wish he could be successful. I think he is a good man and does recruit well. The team has improved the last five games or so but we don’t have the wins. I’ve had season tickets since GM’s 3rd season (I bought single tickets prior years). I told my friend a couple of weeks ago that I probably won’t renew if IB is back but I’m sure that I will when the renewal comes in the mail this summer. We have some talented players but they haven’t been able to close out games. We could have won the Houston game but you can’t have the bad turnovers and go 50 percent from the free throw line in crunch time. It has been a frustrating year for sure.
