  • NCAA Tightens Portal Rules

And screws it up again if this article is correct.

Apparently a second undergrad trfr would have to sit a year if the trfr was related to athletics. That means if an athlete's scholarship wasn't renewed that athlete would have to sit a year. If the "run off" waiver is still in place, then nothing has changed other than the NCAA saying they did something when they didn't.

    From the article:

Waivers will no longer be granted for athletic reasons, including lack of playing time or “position preference.”

If a school pulls a scholarship, then they should be allowed to transfer with no penalty.

now we're back to the "run off" rule, which everyone will use.

Yep. This doesn't seem like a change at all. Seems the same as always. Maybe some super rare occurrence would fit in this bucket, but pretty much a nothing burger.

So if KU or any other blue bloods make the request, that's fine, but WSU and it kind are shi+ out of luck.

Just wait until they try this tight portal. They’ll love it.

I've always preferred a tight portal. Makes it harder for the entrant to their originally desired destination to slip out easily.
